Atletico say no to Trez
Monday 7 June, 2010
Atletico Madrid are not interested in David Trezeguet, according to the Europa League winners' President Enrique Cerezo.

The Spanish giants have been linked with a move for the French striker, with Sergio Aguero or Diego Forlan mentioned as part of a swap deal with the Bianconeri stumping up a big transfer fee too.

“There is nothing true about the rumours linking us with Trezeguet,” said Cerezo.

“In that position we are well covered and he is not what we need.

“I haven't received any calls regarding Aguero and Forlan either. If someone wants to negotiate then they will have to approach us fast.'

In the meantime, Atletico could be looking to sign the Bianconeri's Tiago Mendes on a permanent basis as they attempt to qualify for Champions League football next term.

“We want to return to the top European competition,” noted Cerezo. “This season we paid the price of a bad start but then managed to win the Europa League.”

Los Angeles Galaxy have upscaled their interest in Juventus striker David Trezeguet and they are ready to make a move for him, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

After being linked with Milan's Ronaldinho on Friday, the American outfit have planned a deal worth €3 million over the course of two years for the Frenchman.

The deal will be paid for by sponsorship equity and the 33-year-old will team up with David Beckham if he accepts the offer.

Trezeguet still has one year left on his current term with Juve and Galaxy would have to make an offer to the Bianconeri for the transfer, but they are reluctant to do so. Their offer is based on Juventus letting Trezeguet leave for free.

Gazzetta's report, however, contradicts what Antonio Caliendo, the player's agent, said on Friday.

He told Tuttomercatoweb.com that Trezeguet was close to Arab club Al-Ahli after they showed an interest.

"The Arab interest is real and there is a risk that alot of Juventus players will transfer themselves there," he said.

Agent: "We are waiting for the right offer to come along before sitting around the [negotiating] table, At the moment we haven't received any official offers. David is liked very much in both Spain and England, but he hasn't said he is leaving Juvents, he still has one more year on his contract."
