Real target rehabilitated Trez
Thursday 27 November, 2008
Juventus hitman David Trezeguet is back up and running, but his future may lie in Madrid rather than Turin.
The French international struggled with pain in his knees at the start of the season.
After initially trying to play through the pain, Trezeguet decided to undergo surgery in both knees on September 23.
The operation was a complete success and he has undertaken a course of rehabilitation since with the aim of returning to action in the New Year.
Trez has returned to the training ground ahead of schedule and is now trying to regain muscle tone and match fitness.
However, with Brazilian marksman Amauri and captain Alessandro Del Piero on superb form, first-team opportunities may be limited.
And there are reports in the peninsula that Spanish giants Real Madrid are ready to pounce, as they look to find a replacement for the injured Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
The Merengues are said to have already put a contract offer for Inter's Hernan Crespo on the table, but Trez could be their reserve option.
