Trez: I wish I could help

Juventus are struggling without striking star David Trezeguet and the French international is fighting to return to action as soon as possible.

Trezeguet was Serie A's second most prolific striker last term with 20 goals to his name, but he is out of action after requiring surgery in both knees.

“Juve are missing me and I wish I could be out there to play in the crucial games that are coming up,” Trez told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Sadly injuries are just part of this profession and I have to walk down the long road to recovery.

“I have to thank doctor Giuliano Cerulli for the great work he has done and the attention he has given me.”

Trezeguet is expected to return to action in January.

The ex-Monaco man concluded by discussing the French Football Association's decision to keep faith in Raymond Domenech - the man who effectively ended Trez's international career.

“What do I think about Domenech staying on? The Federation did well to let him work in peace, but I just want to think about getting better so I can make my contribution to the Juventus cause.”

Lyon ponder Trez exchange

French giants Lyon may be preparing a part-exchange swoop to bring Juventus hitman David Trezeguet to the Stade Gerland.

Trezeguet is currently recovering after surgery on both knees and is expected to return to action in January.

However, given the glut of attacking options at Claudio Ranieri's disposal, it is possible the French international may struggle to find a place in the first team.

According to a variety of sources in France, Lyon are considering offering Trez the chance to return to his homeland and are willing to offer Juve highly rated striker Karim Benzema in exchange.

At the age of 20, Benzema is seen by many as Trezeguet's heir for Les Bleus and he already has 35 goals to his name in Ligue 1 from just 88 appearances.

A number of top European sides are keeping a close eye on Benzema, but Juve could trump them all as they have the ideal bargaining chip in Trezeguet.
