Barça try for Trez

Barcelona have redoubled their efforts to prise striking star David Trezeguet away from Juventus, but they will need deep pockets.

Trez enjoyed a phenomenal campaign last season and found the net 20 times, but Juve have invested in Palermo hitman Amauri this summer and are also eyeing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for a new-look attacking line-up.

Huntelaar has an astonishing strike rate for Ajax with 70 goals in 82 games in the Dutch Eredivisie and at the age of 24 has a lot more still to come.

But in order to make a move for the Dutch marksman, the Turin giants will need to come up with some significant capital, which may be found by trading in Trezeguet, who is on Barcelona’s wish list.

The Old Lady are expected to demand nearly £20m for the 30-year-old, but Barcelona Vice-President is set to arrive in Italy to try and reduce that fee.

Barça are allegedly ready to offer £12m, but Juve aren’t ready to compromise unless they raise sufficient funds to table an £18m bid for Huntelaar.

I'd be sad if we let Trez go, but I think the Hunter is the only one that can step into his shoes ATM.

Juve To Sell Trez For Huntelaar?
Juventus may consider selling David Trezeguet to make room for the arrival of Klaas Jan Huntelaar from Ajax. The Blaugrana have been trying to move in for the prolific striker ever since the Serie A season came to an end last month. Trezegol enjoyed a brilliant campaign with the Old Lady and finished only second to Alessandro Del Piero in the Capocannoniere chart.

Juve have been keen to keep Trezeguet on their books but CalcioMercato claims that the Old Lady may sell their hit-man to make way for Ajax star Klass Jan Huntelaar.

The Dutch star has hit a whopping 72 goals in 80 games for the Amsterdam based club and it seems as if Juve want to make room for him by selling Trez.

Barcelona may hold Juve's key to Huntelaar as the Bianconeri would need Blaugrana cash from a possible Trezeguet sale. It is believed Juve are asking for €20m for the Frenchman.

Marc Ingla, Barcelona's vice-president will travel to Turin to try and convince the Bianconeri to lower the fee.

However, Juve are likely to stand firm as they need €18m for Huntelaar.

    Barcelona open bidding for Trezeguet

ROME (AFP) — Barcelona have made a 15 million euro offer for Juventus striker David Trezeguet according to La Repubblica.

The Frenchman is high on the shopping list of new Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola, though their valuation falls short of the 25 million euros that Juventus are requesting.

The clubs are expected to work towards a figure closer to the 20 million euro mark.

It has been a mixed season for the former Monaco striker. Despite scoring 20 goals in Serie A this season, he was overlooked for Euro 2008 by French coach Raymond Domenech.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Barcelona were ready to hijack AC Milan's attempts to buy Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor, whose transfer between the two was put on hold at the weekend by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The paper claimed that Barcelona president Juan Laporta had sanctioned a 30 million euro bid for the Togo striker, which in turn would signal the exit of Samuel Eto'o from the Nou Camp and turn Milan's attention to Chelsea's Didier Drogba.

Italy's World Cup penalty kick hero Fabio Grosso is expected to be the left back that Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri wants for next season, after signalling his desire to return to Italy from Lyon.

However, his agent told La Repubblica that he will be happy to stay in France if no accord can be reached.

"If Lyon don't receive an offer of 10 million euros, Fabio will remain in France because the club is satisfied with his performance."

The ex-Chelsea boss has also targetted Siena's Austria goalkeeper Alex Manninger as the man he wants as understudy to Gianluigi Buffon according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Manninger, the ex-Arsenal custodian, is currently on loan to Siena from Salzburg and gave Italy notice of his ability when he saved Marco Matterazzi's penalty on the penultimate day of the season to deny Inter the title for a week.

Seems to me that management will sell him...
    FAAAAAACKKKKKK!!
how can they be so stupid to enven think about selling a player that scored 20 goals..
    unfortunately money talks
    Why the reactions ? :shifty:
This is another weak article by La Repubblica. If you follow the press you'll see that Barcelona are supposedly after Adebayor, Pavlychenko, Villa and Trezeguet and they went to London, Moscow, Valencia and Turin to try buying these players.

Are they going to buy 4 strikers who cost ~90-100m eur ?

Our directors said many times how Trez will certainly stay in Juve and he won't be sold. That's enough for me.

But this story isn't new, Amauri came to Juve, that money for player at that age would be more than good. I suppose that's the thinking of managers, which I, btw, don't believe a word they say.

Barcelona won't buy 4 strikers for 90-100 millions euros but they can buy easily 2 for 50-60. Even first option isn't problem for them.
