Trezeguet unsure of future
Friday 9 March, 2007
Juventus ace David Trezeguet has admitted that he doesn’t know where he will be playing his football next season.
The Frenchman is one of the players who stayed at the club following the club’s demotion last term, but he may not remain for another campaign given the uncertainty over how strong Juventus will be on their likely return to Serie A.
“I will wait for the club to let me know what their plans are before I make any decisions on my contract renewal,” said Trezeguet, whose deal with the Bianconeri expires in 2008.
“We will all make our choices, basing our decisions on a number of different factors,” added the striker in an interview with La Stampa.
“If I do not extend my contract then I could leave for free in 2008, but that isn’t my problem.
“As sporting director Alessio Secco has already stated, we haven’t started discussing the contract and we are waiting to understand what the club wants to do in the future.
“We have all asked the squad to be strengthened. We are an excellent side in Serie B, but Serie A is an entirely different story.”
Trezeguet was also questioned on his relationship with Didier Deschamps, which has reportedly been frosty over the past few months.
“He is a good Coach, he isn’t our teammate anymore, but our tactician and it is logical that sometimes we have to confront each other.
“This is only done to solve problems, not to create them,” concluded Trezeguet.
