David Trezeguet has insisted that he wants to lead Juventus back to the pinnacle of the Italian and European game.

“I have been here for seven years and I have experienced many different things,” he told L’Equipe. “But my ambition has not changed – I want to regain the Serie A title and the Champions League.”

Trezeguet was forced to remain at the club last season following demotion, but there are doubts over his future seeing as his present contract expires in 2008.

Should he not extend that deal this summer then he is likely to be sold, given that the club will not want to run the risk of seeing him leave on a Bosman next year.

“This has been a difficult year, that is true,” continued the former Monaco ace. “Now I want to be a part of the club’s new course.

“I am proud to belong to a side with such an important history and in my heart I hope to remain here.”

However, Trezeguet has admitted that a decision on his future is dependant on a number of factors and he wants the club to send a clear signal to their players and fans.

“The decision to stay or go does not depend only on me,” he added. “Once we secure Serie A promotion, the management will have to clarify the situation with us, the Coach and our supporters.

“I believe Juve must have the ambition of ending next season in the top three positions – even if this might seem difficult now.”

Juventus could book their return to the top flight as soon as Sunday if they beat Antonio Conte’s revitalised Arezzo side.

Hopefully we will be certain of promotion after next weekend so that the board can concentrate on bringing in players and extending contracts from now on.
Very good news from Trez, hope it isn't just another BS rumour.
