Trez's Barça move 'unlikely'
Tuesday 24 June, 2008

David Trezeguet’s agent insists that a move to Barcelona is unlikely and stresses that the French star is happy to stay at Juventus.

Barcelona are looking for a big-name hitman to appease the fans after a miserable campaign of playing second fiddle to Real Madrid.

And their search has led them to Trez, whose position at Juve is uncertain after the arrival of Amauri in spite of his 20-goal haul last term.

“It will be hard to convince Juventus to let Trezeguet go, even if Barca really push for him” Antonio Caliendo explained on Teleradiostereo.

“I don’t know what the Spaniards are prepared to pay, but I think the Old Lady will only consider an offer of at least £25m. I know that the player wants to stay at Juve.”

It seems that the Bianconeri are ready to relinquish Raffaele Palladino in a co-ownership agreement with Genoa, making it less likely that they will also allow Trez to depart.

Apologies for the ropey autotranslation re report in Spanish paper AS.

*********************************************************

The daily Spanish 'As' does not seem to trust itself of the words of the agent of Trezeguet that yesterday had declared the will of the French attaccante of to stay bianconero. Or the daily Spanish does not believe that the Juve will resist to the court of the Barcelona. So salt to the limelight, with always greater persistence the name of Diego Militolike substitute of Trezeguet. 'As' yourselves it it today that an intermediary of the bianconeri would be put in contact with the agent of the Argentinian attaccante, Fernando Hidalgo, to survey the ground. Actual Hidalgo should disembark in Italy this week for other operations, but unfounded this journey to meet the management bianconera and to speak also of figures. Also Manchester City, Tottenham, and Valencia SOLDIER would be interested.

So finally they got the message and it's gotta be a slow news day for goal

Barcelona Cut And Run From Juventus And Trezeguet
Barcelona have given up on signing David Trezeguet from Juventus after Blaugrana director Ferran Soriano revealed that the Frenchman is no longer a part of the club’s transfer plans. The Blaugrana have been keen on landing Trezegol and Pep Guardiola recently revealed his penchant for the prolific striker.

Trezeguet fired in 20 goals in Serie last season and it seems he is set to do the same again next term as Barcelona pull out of the race to sign him.

“Trezeguet is a great striker but he is no longer a part of our plans,” Soriano told Tuttosport.

“We were interested in the player but we never managed to get anything concrete regarding the player with Juventus.

“Adebayor is a player that we like and this is the reason as to why we have decided to no longer pursue Trezeguet.”

Juventus have always made it clear that they would not be selling Trezeguet to Barcelona for any price and the Blaugrana have finally got the message after months of constant rejection from the Old Lady.

Barca Offer Eto’o For Trezeguet
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Barcelona are prepared to offer Juventus Samuel Eto’o in exchange for David Trezeguet.

Trezeguet has been heavily linked with a move to Barca over the past month or so, and the striker is said to be high up on new coach Josep Guardiola’s summer shopping list.

A few days ago Blaugrana director Ferran Soriano claimed that the club had ended its interest in the prolific Frenchman, who scored 20 Serie A goals last season.

“Trezeguet is a great striker but he is no longer a part of our plans,” he told Tuttosport.

However, the Corriere today claims that Barca are still desperate to sign the 30-year-old, and are prepared to offer Samuel Eto’o as part of an exchange deal.

Eto’o is looking highly likely to leave the Camp Nou this summer in search of a new challenge away from Spain. The Cameroon hitman, who has scored 89 goals in just 136 games during his time at Barca, would welcome a move to Italy.

It is also reported that Juventus may accept such an exchange, if Barcelona choose to make an official offer.
Really interesting offer...
