Rugani is defensively not bad but he lacks confidence with the ball on his feet. In all the games he played he looked very insecure.
He lacks quality and for that reason, he is not the best partner for Chiellini. Caldara is much better. Good defender good vision and technically much better than Rugani. For 50 mil. sell and buy De Ligt who is also much better all round. and has a great future.

You've seen a lot of De Ligt?

Yes, I used to live in Amsterdam for 2 years and went once a month to see Ajax.
I asked some dutch friend to send me video's of Ajax to see De Ligt since Juve was interested. I really like him. Yes he make some mistakes but who doesn't
In my book he is talented and is technically very good in distributing the ball. sure he can improve defensively but he is only 18 and plays all ready in the National team. He is one of my 3 young defensers with Caldara and Gimenez. Mina is also interesting, but saw him only in the World Cup.

I think its a bit hasty to claim that he's already better than Rugani considering the differences in the experience either has and the competitions they play in.

De Ligt has one season of Eredivisie under his belt while Rugani has several seasons playing in Serie A, as well as CL experience playing for a much bigger team, competing for a place among world class defenders.

And I disagree when you said before that Rugani lacks confidence with the ball at his feet. He rarely makes mistakes on the ball, and as he got more playing time he began attempting to start attacks with his passes. He has weaknesses but that is not one of them imo

Rugani is close to leaving Juventus, he's tempted by a move to Chelsea, both from a sporting (Sarri) & economical aspect (being offered double his Juve salary). Juventus have rejected Chelsea's first offer (40m) but a deal could be closed for 50m-55m. #GdS & #CorSera

Imagine getting €55m for Rugani
that would make him the 4th most expensive cb ever, behind van dijk (78,8m€), laporte (65,0) and stones (55,6), and also the 3rd most expensive juve sale ever, behind pogba and zidane.

:beppe:

i have a soft spot for all decent and better italian juve players, and i'd be very sorry to see him go, still, that amount wouldn't make me think twice.
