I don't get this part. I think there's this idea that anyone who dresses a little over the top, does their hair over the top, is a fun-loving, goofy individual... well, that seems to make them some kind of douche in the eyes of certain people.

Strange viewpoint.
Someone has to say it.

They're old farts.

We were trying to figure out how to keep Cuadrado and be able to fullfill our needs in MF and keep morata and bring Berardi and a CB and a ....

Well Beppe finds Cuadrado replacement with an upgrade and by free. How come this is not a awesome new for everyone.

Maybe he would shock us again no just by keeping Morata but adding James in the deal
Too many FM experts in here.

This forum is very weird, they rather focus on fashion sense then football. He is quality, he is old, but quality. But guess what? We have been doing fine getting old freebies for years now, Pirlo, Evra, Barzagli etc. Who cares he will get 3 year contract? But better then anything else, this saves our transfer funds and priorities to bigger things, retaining Morata, getting big upgrades in midfield. Instead of stretch ourselves with too many needs at once. Like Evra, Alves will fill in for couple or seasons until we find our version or top young Sandro on the right. It's a win win.
Uncle Pat was good his first season, had a so-so season last time around. Dani will probably fare the same.

:agree: Long as he understands he is second fiddle to Stephan

FI now claiming that multiple sources are reporting it is 2 year deal instead. Much better imo

Pjanic or Gomes

Either one would be amazing signings
Totally :tuttosport:
This and mascherano would be brilliant moves from Beppe. We would be replacing 20 mill Cuadrado with a free transfer of one of the best fullbacks in the game who can play both RB and RWB at a world class level. No one even thought about the possibility of bringing in these two yet Beppe saw an opportunity that no one else did (fans and transfer directors alike). He is as experienced as any player can get having won everything multiple times and being an important player every single time. We already saw the value of the leadership qualities and experience of Evra, Alves is even better and the same applies to mascherano.

Mascherano would fill 2 spots in one and is world class in both positions. I dont think there is anybody on the market that can do what mascherano is capable of in one let alone two positions and the cherry on top is that he would be very cheap too. So not only would we be filling 3 holes in our squad, we would be filling them with top WC quality and paying peanuts for it. We can then leave the majority of the funds for buying a young world class CM/CAM and a morata replacement.

In:
Alves (Free)
Mascherano (20 mill)
Pjanic (40 mill)
Berardi (25 mill)
Total: 85 mill

Out:
Morata: 30 mill
Asamoah: 15 mill
Hernanes: 5 mill
Cacares: Free

Total: 50 mill

Net spend: 35 mill + whatever it is the wage increase which shouldnt be much. The squad will be much better than it was.
Very possible scenario imo.

Well, Berardi <<<< Morata... So, we will lose one exceptional striker that has decided so many big games for us.
But he was only bench player, who played good in few matches. With those transfers we are improving starting eleven and also greatly improving depth for midfield.

With Berardi we'll have a bench player who won't play well and will be annoyed with the lack of playing time.

Unless we are selling him to finance this pre-historic menace, it is irrelevant. He adds stability, nothing flashy but reliable.
Reliable at the back, yes. We need something for the attack down the flank who is also not a liability at the back.

Same story for the left with Evra and AS.

I don't see what's the problem here. Sure, he's 33, but so was Evra when he joined.

Evra was one of the weak links in CL. Alves already started to decline, he was one of the problems in Barcelona for last 2 years.

Why are we taking the path of destruction, collecting the 'has beens' whom we won't be able to sell, like milan and inter did and bit the dust just a couple of years after they actually win the CL? This club deserves better than regression.
