exactly, can't expect many moves until that person is recruited

credit where due he did hire michael edwards for liverpool which was an A+ move and eventually became the key to their squad building/success. but this is Jj so not expecting much.

Lets see what he can do. Time is now. This team is terrible at almost each position. He aint a miracle worker but its easier to improve a terrible team. Few key pieces in the middle and defense should do the trick to make us competitive again.

We are far away from UCL standard, but like Tacchinardi says, IMO we are three starting quality players away from a Scudetto-challenging team. Let’s crawl before we can walk again.

“I see it as a bit frustration and a bit of a learning process,” Comolli told Sport Mediaset.

“There is frustration because we were hoping to go further and the team in the first half especially showed that they had the quality to go further. Maybe we were unlucky to be up against Real Madrid and if the draw had been easier against other teams, that would’ve been better.

“At the same time, it was a great learning process, I am learning a lot about how to work with the coaching staff and how the players are functioning as a team. Now we have to step back from the competition, I think OK we’ve learned a lot, but at the moment the feeling is frustration.”

Comolli only took over from sacked Cristiano Giuntoli right on the eve of the Club World Cup, so has been extremely busy not just on this tournament, but also the transfer market opening up.

“We analysed the team with data before coming into the tournament and this is a team of very strong players. Those players need to understand how good they are, and those players need to understand that they can win. We need as a club to re-learn how to win.

“I think that’s going to be my goal and the coach’s goal for the next few months. We are not talking about individual cases, what we want is to make the team stronger in the next transfer window, in every transfer window. Then those players, those who arrive and those who are already here, need to understand they have the capability to win. “I am 100 per cent convinced about this.”

I'ma be one of the first few, but this guy is out of his depth. I know it's still early days, but we need a LCB, RWB, RW and ST. That is also if Bremer returns to his former level and we have no injures or form dips. That's frigging 4 out of 10 field players. We just can't go into the season with Alberto Costa or Chico our as our starters

Right now we're being linked with Sancho, some nobody's from Ligue 1 or West Ham

In Turin’s halls where legends tread,
Where Baggio, Pirlo, Del Piero led,
There now sits Comolli, sharp in tie,
With a spreadsheet glimmer in his eye.

Once whispered sage of Moneyball,
Now trapped in charts that show too small—
A tackle rate on rainy days,
A heatmap lost in pixel haze.

He thumbs through stats with furrowed brow,
"Expected flair" and “xWow” pow,
Ignoring scouts who’ve seen with eyes
That players must do more than tries.

He bought a winger—fast, they say—
Who turns like buses in ballet.
A striker famed for "link-up zones"
Yet can’t trap balls or break dry bones.

The tifosi groan, the curva cries,
While Damien ponders sample size.
“In Q4 trends, we’re set to rise!”
Yet on the pitch? Eleven sighs.

So here’s a toast to data's might—
But even numbers need some light.
For Turin’s pride won’t rise again
Through data, charts and ballpoint pens.

Oh Comolli, pause and see:
Football's soul lives wild and free.
And next time, maybe don’t ignore
That player watched since '94.

He is right out of his depth. Almost half the squad needs to be turned over quickly. What are the chances that he won't acquire any more expensive flops? His recruitment record is bad. Look at this quote from Saint-Etienne's co-chairman:

"Damien spent €22 million [£18.7 million] of our money on seven players in summer of last year. Only one is a first-team regular now. We gave him the keys to our club and are now in financial difficulties. My own view of Damien is he favours size and strength as the qualities he goes for first (*not encouraged by this). Perhaps, he will do better with more money at his disposal at Liverpool than he did with us."

He has a handful of big coups to his name but apart from his stint at Arsenal (as a scout) and Toulouse's promotion, he's never overseen success. Look at the lists of his recruits at Liverpool and Tottenham...

Supposedly he left Fener worse off than when he arrived, though he made some decent sales while there. Toulouse is a nice story but when you're trying to win Ligue 2, you can probably get away with a money-ball experiment. I know Marotta didn't make his reputation till a few years after he joined Juve. He hadn't already failed at several big clubs mind you.

Another thing that worried me was his description of the money-ball strategy at Toulouse:

"We are totally data driven... data gives us an indication about the player's character and his personality but not everything. We don't scout players. We never watch players ever. We watch the videos, but we don't send scouts."
How stupid does that sound.

If anyone ever runs us to the ground it will be this guy.

Maybe that's exactly what this club's ownership deserves.

How does sawker data give an indication of a player’s character and personality? Is he giving all his targets the Myers-Briggs test before he signs them? Well, David is an ESFP. Our data shows he will work well with Koopmeiners who is an ISTJ.

These guys are fucking retarded.

‍♂️ "Today the sporting director is Damien #Comolli: a director will come, but in the medium-long term. The current #Juventus general manager is taking care of each negotiation. The same destiny goes for the technical director: both profiles will join in the summer."
