The demo is about to be released and here we are:

http://www.crysisdemo.com/

The countdown has begun, the clock is ticking...:weee:
"The next best thing" ?? Time will tell:stress:
Crysis has been announced for pcs only, consoles are not powerful enough for such a game, hek most of the rigs out there, are not ready to play this game. The game's system requirements might force 90% of the pc owners, to make that upgrade, they were always postponed.
Vista and direct x 10 are fully supported, multi core and 64 bit CPUs too.
Possibly one of the best FPSs, with the best graphics ever.
Crysis sure needs a thread of its own...
Call of Duty 4 will come out first and its already spectacular, lets see what the Crytek guys can do, check it out http://www.incrysis.com/

If the Crytek rings any bells, ill remind you that they were the creators of FarCry,
one of the best FPSs EVER, IMO.
Although FarCry 2 has been announced, in the meantime EA, stepped in bought CryTek engine and delivered this beauty and hopefully the death blow to Halo 3:shifty:

Bring photorealism to the ppl:

Jesus, those screens are really sick, though to play that game like that is gonna cost you a fortune.

The video look even better, its amazing how all those plants are moving, everything looks so natural, despite this is a sci fi game, it looks much more realistic then the most of the next gen shooters, it looks real were the rest look so... plastic...
The scenario and gameplay are mixed though, its starts as a realistic game, fighting as a normal commando a regular army and then you end up using boosted skills and fully upgraded weapons, remote bombs and an enhanced exo-scheleton suit.
It reminds of the predator film, u start up like Dutch and end up like the predator himself, xenomorph is present too, that might be the only reason i might hate this game...
I cant wait to see if my rig will be able to handle it though, if it can handle this, it will be able to handle all the next gen games, that will appear in the next 2-3 years...

    What's your configuration Cronios?
CPU- Core 2 duo 2.2 GHz (ill upgrade to quad when/if it will be necessary and quad core CPUs will cost less than a motorbike)

    Ram - 4 GB of DDR-2 800hz, dual channeled/interleaved (that would be enough, who needs DDR3 ? )

A silent and "modest" NVidia 7600GT 256MB, its not overclocked yet, but it can handle everything that needs pixel shader 3 (next gen console games) and direct x 9.0c ... so far. There was no need to overclock her yet, Crysis might be the reason, 8800 and 8600 are way too expensive for now, since their cost would double my rig's value and still no >256 bits, despite having 512+MBs.
As far as the OS goes im still using XP despite having an original Vista premium copy waiting for install(came us a present with my ADSL at summer). Comparable screenshots shows Crysis really does look better in direct 10, probably the first game that would make a difference and the OS upgrade worthy. But still i dont have a direct x 10 card and it doesnt concern me...:shifty:

Thats not an impressive rig, neither too expensive, relatively good value for money though,
i just want some decent framerates(30-50), i dont want 120+fps, AA x 4 was my ally up until now,but i can live without it, the 19'' TFT is enough too, i dont need anymore than a 2.1 speaker system either, the Altec subwoofer can produce enough sound for my ears and the quality i percept pleases me.
I only asked for a decent HD (820 GB)
For the first time, i m really happy with my rig.
I m living abroad and i dont want any major upgrades/investments for the next 2 years,
maybe a new video card later, but thats it! i think Crysis will be the final judge,
so its more than just a new fancy game for me;)
since it will determine my future economical plans:santa:

I think your card isn't gonna cut it, but yeah the 8-gen cards cost like solid gold.

Nah, i think i will be able to produce such screenies, i m just worried about the framerate, anything bellow 15-20 would be unacceptable,
the game producers said the game would look fairly good in lower specs systems too, when its optimized,
hence, it says that my old card, ATI 9800 Pro can barely run it!
I m optimistic here, since i can run Bioshock, the CoD4 demo at 40-60 fps, why, wouldnt i run Crysis at 20-40 fps?
Never trust the commercial heavy requirements hypes,
invidious companies and video card producers spread them...
A few patches, a new driver and a piece of over-clocking could do the trick, i hope...
Well, i ll found out, in about 9 hours + the downloading time:smoke:

And then, i ll start thinking about the video card upgrade,
    what do you guys think?
the 8xxx generation has been in the market for quite a few time,
ATI's response was delayed and un-effective.
I think there is a major next step coming for 2008, i just wanted to wait for that.
New hardware, new requirements, who knows, maybe direct x 11 compatible cards, 1GB DDR3 video RAM, more pipelines, new pixel shader tech etc etc.
I need to see the next generation's specs before i invest, i always prefer a safe bet:money:
And the more i wait, the cheaper, the 8800GTS gets:D
I think, that i will finish Crysis now, with my 7600GT and replay it later, on Vista, with direct x 10 and a 8xxx card... right after Far Cry 2 appears:cool:

i am not a fan of ea, so i am a bit sceptical
Yea, me too, luckily, they didnt produce the game, they ll just publish it
and they can surely achieve that succesfully, if EA is good at any thing, then it has to be the presentation...

I've near given up on playing games with such specs since I upgraded my monitor a year ago, I'm currently using a 26 inch Aquos that supports a minimum resolution of 1024X768 and my CPU is relatively last gen ( 3.0GHz P4, 1G RAM, 256MB NVidia card). You can only imagine the graphical processing power required to run this monster of a game on my monitor.

I think its possible to play some of those games, at medium settings and lowest shadows, on the 1024x768 resolution,
but you certainly need the highest textures because of the dimensions of your display.
Quite impressive display you got there! Widescreen i suppose...

Yes indeed. I love the display when it comes for everyday use, plus it gives me the flexibility of watching TV at the press of a remote but PC gaming takes a hit in that respect.

If I had a CPU to match that display I'd have the baddest rig in the neighbourhood.

But still, if you pair that display with surround speakers you have the baddest multimedia rig in the neighborhood;)
Plus the fact that your investment will hardly ever lose value, since you can use it with another rig, sometime in the near, or far, future...
