Proof that you can’t compare a right touchline midfielder in a 4-4-2 to a right inverted winger in a 4-3-3 that Messi played his entire career. The latter is essentially a forward and much more advanced. You can see how deep Ronaldo starts for most of his moves in this video.

His average starting position is similar to what Cuadrado’s has been this season and he’s playing on the side of his strongest foot so can’t even cut inside

Cuadrado this season is a right back. Ronaldo at no point in his career was ever a right back.

His (Ronaldo’s) position from 2003-2006 is more similar to how Cuadrado played for us in his first season here.

I’m not comparing their roles tactically. Just their average positions on the pitch which aren’t far off (considering Cuadrado is essentially almost a RWB in the wingerless system we play).

Also, I’d say Ronaldo played that way up till at least 2007. After that, he had more freedom but he was still a wide player till he moved to Madrid.

Well said!!!!!
Ultimate greatest post!

CR7 has been GOAT and adapted in every single position he has played in due to his superior fitness and mentality.

Messi spend his entire career making little runs in one quarter of the pitch, through farmers league. Put him in ANY OTHER team and he will struggle to fit in.

That’s why even at 34, you still see competitive clubs being interested in CR7 BUT NOT MESSI.

Messi will either retire at Barca or rich Chinese/Arab club or his Argentina club.
