Spain has really great wine, though. Some of their regions are brilliant and are yet to shine IMO. They will invade Europe in the upcoming years. Portugal also have some great wine.

Prosecco is pretty great. Haven't tried Cava. As for variety I think Spain is ahead of Italy. Chianti is good (Piedmont generally but they pretty much offer only nebbiolo that stands out to others) but Spain offers more.

Without a doubt, champagne is way superior to both but when it comes to Cava and Prosecco, Cava wins.

Nah dude. Italian reds are far superior. Better grapes varietals. Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Corvina. All make some fantastic wines.
