Is something like this cause for Juve to tear up his contract without owing him more wages?
I'd imagine there are clauses in such contracts that discuss such scenarios. Probably Nike has similar clauses with him too. We will never know for sure ofc until it actually happens and assuming they make this public information.

I wonder if we could then sue him (or Madrid) for his transfer fee ala Mutu

This is terrible for Ronaldo & the Club. I see the chances of him surviving this as very slim.

Its not a question of whether there is enough evidence that meets the standards of a criminal case in the US. Its almost impossible to have evidence from a night that happened a decade ago and to pass the high standard that would get him to go to prison even if he did do it. Ronaldo is probably not going to prison.

The real question is, is there enough evidence to make a compelling claim that the rape likely happened in the court of public opinion?

An extreme example would have been bill cosby when so many women came out against him. That was enough to get public opinion to believe he did those things and that was before actual evidence and any court hearings happened. Cosby is an extreme case (because of the sheer number of women coming forward) but if these docs are legit, or people widely believe them to be legit, that will be enough for Nike & other sponsors to pull out of the sponsorship deal to protect their own image. I imagine Juve would follow suit. All it takes is for one big sponsor to pull out > the rest will follow > Ronaldo will be finished, regardless of whether the evidence is enough for a court case or not.

Think the case of Bret Kavanaugh. He got the job because of Trump/Republicans powering through despite public opinion and the allegations. They were ready to take the backlash for it in exchange of having a new supreme court judge assigned. Nike and corporate sponsors are unlikely to do something similar. These are companies with a progressive image to maintain.
Bill Cosby went to trial bro. His accusers testified in court against him. I doubt this one ever goes to court.

If Ronaldo is smart (and clean on this and any other possible incidents), he tells her bring it on.

Not to mention Cosby survived one trial, before being convicted on the second without any physical evidence. Cosby was also very well known to the jurors while Ronaldo likely won't be.

Ronaldo most likely won’t go to a criminal trial. No one wants another Kobe Bryant mishap. But see you in court would make her go away.

I doubt they would do it unless the case goes to trial. For one, fans have short memories and will quickly forget off the field indiscretions and Ronaldo will remain the most marketable athlete in the world. (Even if Nike drops him, Adidas will pick him up without a second thought). Second, Agnelli is a ruthless individual and will only let Ronaldo go if he massively hurts Juve’s image. Third, unlike Ronaldo’s sponsors, Juve have invested far too much in Ronaldo already. (117 million euros+ 60 mil in salary for the first year alone). It will be almost impossible to prove that Real knew about his involvement in the alleged sexual assault (although they almost certainly did) and get his transfer voided.
All in all, unless this goes to court and Ronaldo is sentenced, I don’t see it happening.

Ronaldo himself knew about it when he signed the contract though and its hard to imagine juve would have signed him had he disclosed. I've got to imagine a team keeps its bases covered, in light of something like this, within the contract.

You're right it probably would be difficult to prove Real knew but I wonder if, this gets out of control, what legal options Juventus has against Ronaldo

maybe someone like @Seven could shed some light.

This dragging on forever would be really bad.

Let's be realistic - you don't need more then a month to gather all you need to make a decision in this case.

Anything beyond that can only mean that someone doesn't know how to do their job or is trying to make himself look like big-shot investigator who brought down Ronaldo.
