I give a damn about resale value, the market is exploding in unprecedented ways, investing all of it in older players with no resale value is unsustainable in these conditions. I would go for Kante and Pogba rather than for Ronaldo and I'd happily play Dybala upfront, in the end would be cheaper than Ronaldo too. Kante-Pjanic-Pogba makes me fap way more than Ronaldo, that's just the way I see footie, very hard to win CL with a midfield like our current one
Yeah, that's why an even weaker Liverpool midfield played the CL final last year, and a weaker version of our midfield played the CL final two years ago and managed to beat Real 3-1 in Madrid this year.

Add Cristiano Ronaldo to a team that has just been a small step from winning CL and we're further away, right?

y, our midfield played in CL final 2 years ago and got crucified. Pool got a strange route to the final last season, Real knocked out all the contenders while Klopp had fun with Pep and rookie EDF and in the end still lost to Real.

I'm not saying we're further away, CR definitely improves our chances, there's no argument that CR > Higuain. I'm just saying Ronaldo isn't the choice I'd have made, I'm still happy we're serious about CL next season.

Btw. Just for consistency sake, due to past discussions, my general opinion of Messi being overall better player still remains :p (generally even depending on who has better periods, but I mean purely as player's core qualities). Making that clear now since the CR7 and Messi discussion should go to defcon orange levels in biasm in this forum when we sign one of them like this :D

Hopefully thats the LAST time we ever discuss them two btw lol.

I just cant wait to see Dybala, Costa and Cristiano play together :tuttosport:

Our midfield got crucified after Pjanic got injured. Just a small correction. Watch the first half in Cardiff and tell me it got crucified... I need a good laugh.

Our midfield isn't as strong as I'd like it to be, and it lacks 90min in its legs is my biggest problem with it, but our strength in every single other spot on the pitch is. Add to this Ronaldo has the kind of amazing movement that means he will get on the end of chances Higgy doesn't even start moving for. Higgy's off-ball movement was one of the most disappointing things about his time here.

As you should remember, I share the opinion that Messi is the better overall player, but only by the slightest of margins. I just like trolling Messi fans who believe Messi is clear levels above Ronaldo. He isn't. It's very very close (and getting closer). I do think Ronaldo has had the "greater" career thus far, also. :p

But agreed. No need to continue in that vein now that we may have a GOAT of our own. :weee:

Why are people worrying about our midfield when we signed the man of a 1000 goals?
I'd assume they believe our midfield won't create chances for him to score.

Kind of irrelevant detail when we have Costa, Dybala, Bernadeschi, Cuadrado all creating chances. Not too mention Pjanic fks and corners to Ronaldo will be a thing of beauty.

Imagine Caldara, Rugani/Chiellini, Mandzukic, and Ronaldo in the opposition box for a corner from Pjanic.

Game over.

Maaan, you simply DO NOT say no to Ronaldo, everything else is irrelevant.
