Have you counted the number of goals we conceded because of Grosso's defensive abilities this season?
But you gotta give Molinaro credit he deserves and that is he's a better defender than both PDC and Grosso.
I believe that Moli's defensive capabilities are EXTREMELY OVERRATED
in this forum.
I believe that he is unable to defend and he is a liability, even worse than DC and most ESP than Grosso.

I dont rate Grosso as a defender, but he is def a much better defender than Moli. I have seen Grosso heading out dangerous balls and perform sliding tackles.
Moli is unable to perform that!!

If Moli was a new player, into a new team, like Grosso is now for us, he would have done a hell of a lot worse than Grosso is now.
You cannot compare the super defensive Juve of CR, to the open Juve of Ciro.
Moli always had a defensive winger ahead of him (Neddy) and an extra DM (Sissoko) to cover up for his defensive lapses.
The need to go forward was lesser and our wings were far less exposed, due to our defensive system.

The teamwork and the coverage of his teammates he was playing with for 2-3 years, in the system he was playing in for 2 years, favored him so much, that actually made to the impression to some fans, that he is a football player.

But he is not!! And def not a reliable defender!!
When he was called to play a role in this team, with the same standards Grosso faces, we all saw his exposed defensive lapses.
He is actually even worse as a defender, than Grosso too!

4-0 against the Allievi in an all in the family mini-match

This afternoon saw an all in the family mini-match as Juventus (in the absence of the internationals) played against the Allievi coached by Stefano Guidoni in an encounter split into two 30 minute halves. Seeing the absence of the many international players and with Marchisio, Sissoko and Zebina busy with a separate programme, Ferrara was forced to look for players amongst the Allievi and so together with the champions of the senior squad played Paolo, his son, a central defender and Andrea Schiavone, a midfielder.

Here are the 11 players fielded by Ferrara: Chimenti, Grygera, Ferrara, De Ceglie, Molinaro, Schiavone, Giovinco, Diego, Amauri, Del Piero, Trezeguet, with Manninger defending the goal of the Allievi. The mini-match ended 4-0 for the senior squad. In the first half Trezeguet scored from the outcome of a corner kick from close range and Amauri scored by heading the ball following a perfect cross by Molinaro. The Brazilian gave Giovinco the assit for the 3-0 in the second half while the last goal was scored by Alessandro Del Piero who took advantage following a save by Manninger.

Okay, let me clear things here.

Molinaro is a horrible player. There's no way arguing that. and Secco should sell his ass for free this January.

But from what I've seen this season, Grosso is slightly worse than last year's Molinaro, at his best, when it comes to defending.

My point, when dealing with messi, I prefer Moli to both Grosso and PDC. But, I won't pick him over Grosso simply because defending is not the only thing a full back does in a match.

Overall, I'll pick Grosso over Moli any day any hour any minute any second without hesitation.

Last year's Molinaro, came with a defensive package. Without this, he is not better than Grosso. This year, this packet is no more and he even lost the two things that kept him alive, the insane amount of playing time, that helped kept "on form" and helped the team to adapt him.
And the favorism of the coach, that him the confidence to keep forward, despite being the worst LB of the league!

Without those two factors, Moli is less than nothing!
What makes you think that Moli would deal better than Grosso, defensively in this years Juve?? His tactical awareness? Precision tackle? Positioning?
What exactly?

Do you really understand how much more difficult is too defend this year?
Do you understand how much more competent you have to be, to deliver the same (defensive) performances?

It doesnt matter, Ferrara does...

Molinaro is fast which gets him out of tricky situations, but I don't think he would defended many of those balls in from our right side better than Grosso, positioning is not a strength of either.

Oh! New photos...??! :D
The one with the ball in hand, looks so mystical! LOL!
--------------------
The ONLY reason that makes me respect Moli is that he's such a Hardworking defender that no one can deny!
Th rest of his abilities are obvious. Most of the time, just horsing around, making fantastic opportunities for opponent teams, not much more!
He definitely porforms worse than Grosso, buT as Ranieri put his trust in him, he didn't fail justly...
I don't think n I don't believe that he might improve. But I prefer not to get rid of him,we could save him. He's not too bad as a sub...

We dont need a sub, we need a starter. Grosso is getting older and he is not that good to boost with. We should make him a sub and buy a good starter.
Enough with the limited fullbacks!
