i think Ponting has offically taken the mantle from the great tendulkar as the worlds best batsman! 3rd time in his career he made 2 hundreds in a test! his in unbeleiveble form!

On the one day front, the fight is less evident because they dont have the kind of resources for the tighter format. At full strength, I'd say, they're the dark horse come WI'07.

You know what they say. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Tendulkar will be back, up until that time Ponting can muster all the praise he likes, he himself perhaps knows he'll never be as great as Tendulkar when people look back 100 years from now.

im talking about tendulkar and dravid.they're both almost as old as each other.and if im not wrong,they'd probably retire at the same time.sachin might hang his boots earlier because of the toll his body has taken.im not seeing any replacements for them currently.that can be a potential problem come retirement age.

no not really...as u must have noticed sachin has not really contributed to the recent couple of series....like he rarely performed in this england's tour ,both in tests and ODI's .....

but when dravid retires it will be leaving a big hole in the batting line up...but with the emergence of raina the batting woes r somewhat solved...kaif is going tru a bad patch but he will recover soon...so i don't think there r any worries..

just look at this batting line up and say if its not strong..

1.sehwag
2.gambhir
3.pathan...yeah he has become an established no 3 blame chapello
4. yuvraj
5.kaif
6.raina
7.dhoni
8. agarkar

so there is plenty of depth in there...and i hope the young guys will take the responsibility after sachin and draid r gone..

to be honest,gambhir hasnt impressed me too much.there was this guy called rathore something i think.he opened the innings with sehwag when india drew 1-1 in australia.i liked his technique though he was awfully defensive.if im not wrong,him and sehwag were opening parnters at club level too.

yuvraj looks very promising though.im certain he'll be india's most reliable batsman when dravid and sachin call it a day.he seems to have the attributes of a future captain too.he took some while in get going,but he's certainly doing great now.

i somehow dont see the point of using pathan so high up in the order.he's still young,and yet he's having so much pressure on his shoulders due to his batting responsiblities.his pace has dropped too,which is sad i guess.he's a pretty talented lad.screw batting,let him bowl in peace.
