Gotta admit Streeck has been growing on me. Didn't like him when he first popped up at the beginning of the pandemic.

" ...We can't vaccinate away the pandemic."

"The communication about the vaccine has always been bad in my eyes. It doesn't really stop infection. It's mostly about individual protection. The vaccinated person protects himself, does something for his own health..."

"Smoking, bad eating habits - I know I'm on difficult terrain here, but health precautions have always been personal in Germany, and not something that is enforced from the outside."

I think it’s common sense at this point. It’s been 2 years, people should have enough experience and done enough research to figure things out.

Covid Passover still doin' the Lord's work though...
Why does anyone care about death tolls anyway? It's not like these are victims. I mean these people don't care enough to do what's necessary to protect themselves. Of course there are some in there that did all they can and still succumbed, that's unfortunate.

You do realize I was being facetious, right?

Of course, Americans can't stop gobbling fentanyl too, which is even worse. That still doesn't make it something to celebrate.

Well it's the second time it was posted here, so I thought it was supposed to be big news.

The fentanyl situation is actually sad imo.

The fentanyl thing is a bit different tho. Cheap fentanyl is being used to cut heroin and sometimes contaminating cocaine supply by mistake. Those people definitely don’t deserve to die. I mean the cocaine users, heroin users are usually too far gone.

we need to legalize all drugs

The number of Americans dying each day from Covid-19 now stands as high as it did during the Delta variant's peak, a grim figure that experts believe will rise.

As the cases in US are going crazy ICU admissions are going down

https://ourworldindata.org/explorer...e&Color+by+test+positivity=false&country=~USA

When you've got 30-40 percent of the population infected with a virus - out of those 30-40% many will die due to other causes. There is a big difference between dying from Covid and with Covid.

If ICU admissions are not going up, how are the people dying? It's clear by now that in most cases you have to be sick for 2-3 weeks, getting a viral pneumonia and needing oxygen in an ICU. How is Omicron skipping all those steps when most scientists are claiming that Omicron is milder?

As per 2019 it is estimated that 8000 people are dying daily in the US. This means that 8000 people are dying per day in USA because of oxygen breathing?

I think Portugal got it right about decriminalizing drug use. That's different from legalizing drugs, however.

It's funny, because if you get caught with a good supply of drugs, you don't go to jail. But you end up in front of a judge with an addiction specialist and therapist. Believe me, anyone caught would rather go to jail than be put into one of the Portuguese rehab programs, because they will get you clean.

But fentanyl? No, I don't sense we're talking significantly about accidental overdoses, even if those stories make the headlines today.

America is suffering from a lot of diseases of despair: suicide, opioids and drug ODs, and alcoholism. Fentanyl serves a need there nicely.

Are those ICU admissions with Covid or ICU admissions from Covid?

I listen often to Soft White Underbelly. Fentanyl is seriously fucked up.

Very interesting youtube channel, everyone has his own story
