And yet the media will still tell you they play wonderful, open, attacking, exciting football.

No one won with less goals back in the days when less games were played in the World Cup?
Its really odd. Its like they've all been watching Spain's Euro 2008 games before making these comments. Because if you forget for one second that Spain is playing and look at how they played in the WC games, they were by no stretch of imagination entertaining.

The two most entertaining teams in the tournament were Germany and Argentina IMO.

Germany and Uruguay were more entertaining, in my opinion.

I've said in the past I think people often judge a game by the team sheet, rather than what they actually see on the pitch.

Yup.

Honourable mention to Uruguay as well.

Particularly when they played each other.

Btw, Germany conceded 12 goals when they won it in 1954. On one of those matches they conceded whooping 8 goals (lost 3:8 against Hungary).

The Hungarians were strong favs in the final because they played it against Germany, the team they beat 8:3 in the groups. Also, the Hungarians had a record of 4 wins out of 4 and a goal difference 25:7 before the final.

And the Germans won the final

Das Wunder von Bern- see signature.

On the goals front, bare in mind if Torres had scored half the many easy chances he had then this conversation wouldn't be happening.

I meant in terms of entertainment, not they didn't impress as in they didn't play well.

We came into this WC expecting Spain to be one of the more entertaining teams, they were very far from being entertaining throughout the tournament.

They were effective however, and they were the best team.

But why mix expectations with what they did on the field?

People tend to expect a lot from several teams which makes them unsatisfied sometimes with one teams overall performances which is unfair if you ask me.

Spain did impress in Quarters, Semi's and Finals. They played some nice football.

Do you mean that they played good entertaining football. Because if you do, i have to disagree, they were slow in their build up, they over did the possession football, they had no penetration at times, its all down to personal taste in the end, but for me they were not entertaining at all.

I saw a thing about that World Cup the other day, though the program was about Puskas.

1. Germany didn't play a full strength team in the first game.

2. A German player injured Puskas during the first game and he played in the final despite not being fit.

3. Hungary's semi final went to extra time, so they missed their train and so were not well rested or fully prepared for the final.

Adidas also claim a lot of credit for the result. They supplied the German's boots and had innovative screw in long studs, which supposedly gave the German's a big advantage in the wet conditions the final was played in.

That was the start of Adidas being big in football.
