Try to solve sth like:

- Yes cause you called me...
- I never did that
- Yes you did
- When?
- You even don't rememeber
- Why should I rememeber such small thing?
- It wasn't small - everything began from that..
- No way, it had nothing to do with that..
- Of course it had....

Blah blah....

And about your example: I wouldn't get my rechargeable electric hedge-trimmer..
