That was fucking horrendous. So embarrassing and shameful.

I understand the need for squad rotation, but I would have done that against Why Dad - not Manchester City.

Why is Rugani not getting minutes? Our central defence is starving for some minutes from an experienced player.

Why is Douglas Luiz not getting minutes in a game like this?

I am going to fucking piledrive someone if I see us start another game with a 2 man midfield. Even worse when it is Locatelli & McKennie. It is so out of touch with the way modern football is played. You need midfielders who can resist the press and dictate the tempo of the game. Look at the impact Rodri had.

We are heading into the summer mercato with no sporting director. What is Comolli doing?

For anyone saying this tournament doesn't matter and this was an exhibition game, enjoy your fucking copium. Winning this game would have given us a straight path to the final. Seriously, go and look at the tournament bracket. Now we'll we facing Real Madrid in the next game. Progressing each phase is worth around €20m. We're counting our fucking pennies for Chico Conceicao because €30 million is too much money ... could we not use the extra cash? This is pretty fucking far from a friendly.
I love your post, but there’s going to be a lot of broken jaws in Aussie land. Tudor is not giving up his double pivshit system unless it’s too late.

Watched it.
City didnt impress me. Yeah they controled the game but I think it could have been a different game with few adjustments.
Vlahovic must leave - he scored one but wasted 2.
Our defense of Savona Kelly is not even Serie A level.

Get Bremer back add another CB of high level and suddenly covering will become much better.
City played a bit predictable IMO. Better defenders would have made their life way tougher...

Anyway Real Madrid.. Its going to be a tough one sided game. Real are way better than City in my books

- - - Updated - - -

1. To beat City you need very fast players on the break, for example, Muani for Vlahovic, Weah for Kostic, Mbangula for Nico. Instead of looking for a quick buck by selling the players that actually try to play and were useful, sell the expensive flops now. Luiz and Koopmeiners are trash and Vlahovic can move on. That will be plenty to rebuild with.

2. Why play 3 at the back when they always have fast wingers? Adding extra defensive mids doesn't solve the wing problem and Kelly was completely lost with nobody covering him either. Why not change formation? 3-4-3 requires possession and a attack mindset so that the back 3 stay up a lot, a defensive 3-4-3 gives you zero outlet to release City's pressure so conceding 5 was expected.

3. Attack is the best form of defence in modern football, those days of parking the bus are long gone. Pep has got his new players and a bunch of bench warmers playing slick football, while we only focus on "pressing" in training. Why not cultivate a new style and thinking? Mbangula would've been way more useful than Nico or Vlahovic. Is Tudor another dictator coach?
There is also fatigue to consider. I dont blame Tudor but I do blame the management.
Our team is way too thin to compete and our defense is laughable even with all fit (Bremer aside)

Major upgrades needed.
Top CB, and replace all these useless subs who currently play as first choice. Kelly Savona. I dont mind Gatti and Rugani as subs but the first two arent even Serie A level.
Mid - There is something missing in distribution, honestly I still cant figure why Rovella got sold while we kept others beneath him. Im not saying Rovella should have been our guy but it emphasize the poor management

The way we forfeited our way out of this tournament should be a future case study both at coverciano and at courses on business administration because no matter how we look at it there is still no logical explanation as to why would we literally choose to bench and rest half of our key starters in the most important CWC game when we only needed a draw to secure an easy path to the later stages where we’d also benefit from huge financial boost, nevermind the negative marketing impact such a result brings when most of the world is watching, or the lack of confidence that comes with it.

Defence look awfull, even against those shit teams we played before. Only MDG is doing good or even extremely good.
We should be getting rid of Kelly asap, he is such a liability.
Then there is Savona, who should be bench player.
Kalulu had a bad game, but i trust him still.
Gatti is Gatti, personally I would sell him asap, but he has admirers. Guy just can cope with pressing, he will let us down so many times in CL.
Hoping Bremer is back, but that wont be enough, we should get two more CBs.

Sack worthy imo

I’ve been fully behind keeping Tudor especially when looking at the alternatives we’ve been linked with, and was pleasantly surprised to see him securing 4th spot and balance the ship while now also doing well at the CWC in the first two games, but i just can’t get behind the way he interpreted this City match, nor do i trust his planning in regards to squad rotation, basically decided to throw out the window all the good that was done till now, and makes me worry about next season when he will likely pull more baffling decisions like this.

But ofc we are now in the heat of the moment, i don’t expect a sack nor am i asking for it yet, after the mercatto is over he’ll maybe have better options to pick from and will look to learn from previous mistakes, or maybe that’s just my coping mechanism kicking in but i’d rather not make him the main scapegoat before the new season even started.

Let's give him the Madrid game and see if he learned from this match. 3 at the back won't work with our current players, make it a 4 and transfer list Kelly. I'm not expecting a win, but I want to see a performance. And I want Mbangula and Weah back, they're much better than our starters yesterday. Sure, players underperform for us but the manager needs to bench them and develop others ie, Mbangula who should always be ahead of Nico and even Vlahovic given that his characteristics are closer to Muani in terms of movement so he could at least link up with Conceicao and Yildiz.

If we had finished first, Inter probably would’ve had a clear path to the final. maybe Tudor set up the lineup this way to make sure City topped the group and Inter didn’t make it to the final. Honestly, that’s the only explanation that makes any sense.:numnum:

Speaking in terms of next season is hilarious, in the context of this tournament. This is still the 2024/25 season thanks to these FIFA dickheads, this is a proving ground for some players and different options. It's not the CL. We obviously need to make as much money as possible, otherwise I'm not really bothered.

Our defence is hilariously bad. And in these sort of summer tournament games the first place you feel it is in defence, it was a comedy show. City didn't defend well either, but they have elite attacking players so will do well in this scenario. We badly need Bremer back to his peak and at least one other strong option. Kalulu has a past reputation for mistakes but we didn't see too many in proper games last year, he was switched off here completely. You can see players a step slower.

I'm not judging the overall picture of the coach and what next year will bring based on this tournament, and that includes the previous games. This squad isn't good, and a few switches in personnel and drop in concentration makes it look awful.

I think that what seems to baffle most is why choose to rest half of our most key players in the most important game and not giving ourselves a fair chance when knowing what was at stake, and that surely is valid criticism, but i agree nothing from this tournament should be taken as a preview of what to expect next season as we still have a long summer of preparations and mercatto ahead.

The guy has an IQ of a 3 year old and people think he plays 4D chess lol

He did not trick the management into buying new players nor did he ruin inters chances. He just sucks and is a stubborn one approach coach.

We can only hope real stop at 5 - but knowing Vinnie and co they won’t

Yeah there is a good reason. Fatigue. The weather conditions. Tudor picked the best two lineups for the two must-win games. And we won them. The City game wasn't a must-win. But it serves as a reminder that this Juventus team is still not at the top of European football. And players that are already on their way out should not play in important matches - Vlahomiss and Kostic to name two. But even so, I have no idea what Tudors game plan was. How the fuck did we accept a 77-23 possession? There is no way that is ever acceptable unless it's 7 v 11.

You're right but I think Tudor had already accepted defeat before the match even started. Going up against City and Pep, he didn’t believe he could win, so he played a weakened lineup to protect himself. That way, if we lost — which he expected — he’d have an excuse ready. If he had started the best XI and still got thrashed, the criticism would’ve been way more intense.
