Not really. Delneri isn't that bad either, he just sucked at Juventus.
Dude, just compare their resumes... Apart from getting to CL with Sampdoria Del Neri has absolutely nothing to show. Maybe his stint at Chievo is commendable as well. Ranieri's is heaps more impressive.

Del Neri sucked everywhere. Even in Marrotta's pants.
:D

Ranieri did fine at Juve.

Just because Juve fucked up with the appointment of the coach and signings after he left shouldn't detract from the fact that under Ranieri Juve had got themselves a solid base back in Serie A to build on.

It's not like Ranieri is winning titles here and there. They are both mediocre coaches and comparing them isn't a crime.

Delneri may be a better coach for lesser teams (Samp, Chievo), but Ranieri is clearly miles better when it comes to coaching a club of any stature.

Del Neri is a mediocre coach. Ranieri is a good coach. Maybe not a winning one, but a good one nonetheless. So yes, comparing them is a crime.

who exactly did he mismanage? dude even made Amauri look world class.

as opposed to other managers who do so amazingly well in injury crises?!

nobody is saying he is a world beater, but he deserves nothing less than praise for the amazing work he did at Juve.
The best way to pass a judgement on Ranieri is the state of a team at his departure.

Juve - destroyed
Roma - destroyed
Merda - doubly destroyed

That is all.

PS: your last sentence must be clear trolling, because he didn't do amazing work at Juve. First season it was passion that carried the team through, second season, the coach was clueless and by the time he was fired, Juve's historical aura had all but departed too.

How was Juve destroyed? That's just absurd. We were 3rd in the league when he left. Even if we had lost both our remaining games, we would still have ended up third that season. If anything, he overachieved in his first season and then maintained our level in the second season. Destruction was what followed with Ferrara and Zaccheroni and completed by Del Neri.

At Roma, he worked on an almost nothing budget. He spend close to nothing and took them to second spot on loan signings alone. The next season they spend less than 2 million euros on transfers. Yup, he was the reason they didn't do well

Melo, my man, common, Ranieri is a coach of international standing. Del Neri is not. Even Zaccheroni is a rung above Del Neri. The guy had one fluke season thanks to Antonio Cassano's genius. That is all. Rainieri has done well at Valencia, Chelsea, Juventus, Roma - some of the bigger teams across Europe. Its just wrong to compare the two. It's not even up for debate. Claudio is the best value for money, if you have a team that is building a base for the future. There is no coach like him in that category. He may not be a winner like Lippi, Ferguson, Mourinho, Guus, but even they can't do what he does. It's a very special niche to have, or in this case, own.

Even Zaccheroni? He won the Asia cup ffs :D He is also a decent coach.

I have a feeling that people are calling Delneri shit only based on his season with Juve. Surely, Ranieri did better than Delneri here, but as Red said; Ranieri is better at a bigger team, while Delneri is better with the small ones. I am not saying that Delneri is better or worse coach than Ranieri, I am only saying that both are mediocre.

Delneri was one of, if not the worst, and most shameful manager in recent Juve history. His loserish comments to the press, insistence on 4-4-2 every game, constantly playing Grosso and Motta and his annoying screaming from the sidelines (Meelosh!!!) So Un-Juve like. He is a provincial, mid table team at best manager and that's that. Nowhere near as good as Ranieri and Ranieri definitely isn't a wonder manager.

"It's not like Juve win the Coppa Italia every year"

"Jeers will turn into applause"

"No one can teach me anything"

Ugh.
