There's a lot said about Ranieri as a coach. But to be honest, there are very few world class coaches out there. Sure, he isn't one of them, but he has his niche as a coach, and that is adapting very quickly to teams in transition. Not many coaches have that ability. So maybe he's not a guy who'd win you trophies consistently, but he's definitely a coach who will achieve reasonable targets with teams that play within their means. Look at what he did with Parma, his second season with Juve, with Roma, and even Inter till not so long ago. No point judging him by his stint at Inter coz the damage was done at the start of the season. There's only so long they would've gone on without eventually being exposed. While I agree he's more philosophical than motivational, I think he's one of the best coaches to have around for teams with a "project". Give him 5 years with a team that's building for the future and he'll bring stability. Hand him over a team in distress and he'll see them through more often than not. But don't give him a team already built to win trophies, because he'll buckle when things go south. That is and has been his biggest weakness. He is in my book, one of the best coaches not to have won anything.
