I'm not here to defend Ranieri, far from it, but what you're saying isn't exactly true either.

Hell, yesterday, even Buffon said Ranieri did excellent at Juve last season (or last 2 seasons, I forgot).

Overall, these last 2 seasons were mostly positive, but the relationship with Ranieri (fans, board & players) & our results clearly deteriorated in the last few weeks / months.
So it was clearly time to move on, without question.


That being said, I'm curious to see how he'll do at Roma.

A lot of people don't see that at all, and specially at discipline level, squad harmony etc.. I don't blame the players, if you have a clown trying to manage you, I would react the same way..

Clearly, Buffon will never say he hates his guts, but to say (and stress) he did excellent? There's no reason for that.
He could, for example, avoid giving a clear answer or answering with the usual crap, like Cobolli did in this case (I have no problem with Ranieri and wish him well in the future, blabla.)

Did he do more harm than good? I don't know and there's no way of finding out I'm afraid. Definitely some harm in the final few months, but overall I'm not sure.

You do have a point with the Capello comparisons, no doubt.

I don't get all this hate for Ranieri. He was brought in and did a fine job getting 3rd place after Serie B even amid all of those horrible refereeing decisions. He did poorly in his second season in charge but the board should have replaced him during the summer with somebody a little more accustomed to not being an underdog. Ranieri seems like a decent guy and I like him as long as he is no longer coaching us

Although I wouldn't say he did poorly in the second season. Apart from those final months obviously.

I don't think he's talking about all the crap that's being posted on forums, but rather the people he meets in real life.

I, along with other Juve fans, met him during the last weeks of his spell at Juve. Things were looking really bad & everyone knew he was gonna get axed sooner or later. Yet despite the (mostly deserved) criticism he received, he still was immensely friendly to everyone, always ready to have a chat with everyone even in these most difficult of times. (I didn't do a lot of talking though, my Italian is way too limited for that )

So, if he now says he is still being greeted with great affection, I don't really find that hard to believe.
