Come on, Capello is a great coach. I mean, yeah, his football sucks and I most definitely don't like him, but he has results and you have to give credit to the guy. Plus I'm pretty sure that he would choose better transfer targets than RUINeri did. Yeah, we probably wouldn't be unbeaten by the big sides, but I'm pretty positive we would have more points, because we would beat the likes of Empoli. And guess what, it's the points that matter in Serie A, not results against big sides.

So both Del Piero and Moggi are praising Ranieri, saying that he's doing an excellent job.
Now i'm confused because the general opinion of this forum is that he sucks.

I don't really agree that Ranieri is 10 times the coach Capello is but i agree that considering everything that happened to us in last 2 years, Ranieri did a solid job.
He made few mistakes here and there (like every human does) but my rating for his job is positive !
Look at Inter and Mancini. They are comfortably winning and still they are a circus. Giving resignations and then taking them back, fighting between eachother, insulting eachother, refusing to play.
Look at Milan and Ancelotti. They won the bloody CL and still Ancelotti is clueless and can't get results with a squad by far superior to ours. Tactically Milan were being outplayed in 4 matches out of 5.
And then look at us. Our squad is by far inferior to Milan's and we have 9 points advantage over them, we aren't better than Viola and we have 5 points more than they do. Roma and Inter have much higher quality and yet they couldn't beat us.
And what's most important, look at our team atmosphere, look at they way we're celebrating the goals. That my friends, is the job of the coach. To motivate and unite the players and no-one seems more motivated and more united than us this season in Italy.

Claudio Ranieri is expecting an exciting and open game when he leads his Juventus side out to face Inter at San Siro tomorrow.
There’s no love lost between the Old Lady and Inter and the Derby d’Italia is one of the season’s most heated clashes.
Ranieri’s side were held by Empoli in a disappointing 0-0 on Wednesday, but they arrive with confidence having seen the Nerazzurri’s recent struggles, even if the Juve tactician remains cautious.
“I don’t listen when people say that they are off form,” he said. “Their form will come just from playing against Juve.
“We want to shock them like we did against Roma, but we want to do it in a more positive way.”
Striking star David Trezeguet stated yesterday that he wants to beat Inter so that Roma steal the Scudetto from the reigning champions.
“Trezeguet would prefer Roma to win the Scudetto? I just want us to get a good result – I don’t care about the rest,” Ranieri stressed.
“We know that we are taking on the top of the class, but we are convinced that we can do well. It will be an open game and the result will be uncertain until the end.
“Are we more calm? It’s Inter title to lose, but this game means everything to us and is worth 1000 per cent.”
Trez also criticised Juve’s recent performances and insisted that the Turin outfit have a lot more to give.
“I agree that we need to improve on one hand, but disagree on the other,” Ranieri explained.
“It’s true that our football isn’t flowing, but we are defending very well. The truth is always in the middle.”
The former Parma Coach was reluctant to divulge any information on his team selection as he concluded the interview.
“I will weigh up my decisions and decide everything tomorrow morning,” he revealed.
“The squad is looking good physically. You could see we were the side in shape on Wednesday evening by the fact that several Empoli players were suffering from cramp.”

Capello doesn't and never accepted to coach a team with average players. So to me Ranieri is doing better job than Capello.

As for Capello proven winner....I have said it before, give Capello an average team and he'll prove you that he's anything but a proven winner. His CL notebooks says it all....he's had the best squads with several teams in the last 12years and he never managed to hit the Semi's.... I wouldn't call that person a winner Vinny.
