Ranieri: We Were Not Good Enough
Claudio Ranieri was visibly disappointed with his side’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina on Sunday afternoon.
Juventus seemed poor on the day and although they managed to fight back after going down early on, they were never able to take advantage and instead the Viola scored two late goals to turn the game on its head.
Juventus have never taken a point from three games in the past and Ranieri was not happy.
“It’s never happened before and it’s a shame,” Ranieri told Mediaset.
“It was a difficult game, they took the lead and in midfield they dominated play.
“We managed to draw level and then go ahead with a good goal but they did well to fight back.
“The difference was Papa Waigo, he scored an excellent goal, we were not good enough.
“They were slightly fortunate with their second goal as the ball bounced back to them when we tried to clear.
“Their third goal was our mistake, we let the ball bounce in front of them and it was an error which shouldn’t happen.
“
We played well in our last two games but not today, we need to improve,” concluded the coach.
Juve’s assault on the Champions League is getting very complicated and any further slip ups could see their hopes of European football fade away.
