Still Too Many Mistakes, Says Ranieri Yeah and you are the first one
Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri was a man with mixed emotions after watching his team run out comfortable 3-1 winners over Livorno.
David Trezeguet was the star of the show as the Old Ladt brushed aside Livorno's challenge to pick up a deserved win. However, they failed to chalk up more goals against ten men, and also conceded late on, leaving Ranieri a touch frustrated.
“I liked the desire to win and the great determination they showed tonight, but we made far too many mistakes in the build-up,” he said.
“A round of applause must go to Cristiano Zanetti, as our midfield revolves around him. He is fundamental for us.
“The goals all came from Del Piero, he had a key role tonight.”
“Aside from the chances we created and the great effort we put in, we forgot who it was we were facing,” he continued, on a slightly more sombre note.
“We gave them far too many spaces on the counter with their best players.
"You get an entertaining game that way, but also take risks against a side with far greater technique.
“We had talked about this during the week, but once we got out there it was difficult to maintain that rational approach.”
Juventus are closer to the top now, ten points behind Inter and five off second placed Roma. They next take on Inter in the Coppa Italia quarter final second leg.
