here is my take on the 433 formation.

offensively

It will mostly depend on the counter attacking abilities of the midfield players and the forwards. All the teams that play with that formation have a good counter attack.
The successful ones play the ball well between them and string the passes well to break up defenses.
The full backs will have an attacking part but it should be that big unless we are constructing an attack from nothing.

Defensively

We will need a very good defense and a hardworking midfield that will cover having three forwards who their job would be to provide pressure on the opposition's defense and even their DMs.
The full backs will have a more defensive job imo.

All depends on the instruction of the manager it can easily turn to a 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 if we need to defend a lead or under pressure. The advantage is that players only have to reposition a couple of yards.
For example if the defensive midfiefder drops down a couple of yards you get a 5 man defence. Ideally a midfield consists of a defensive midfielder one attacking one and one infiltrating one. We have them with Tiago, Nedved and Almiron. Iaquinta is a strong forxard who works hard and can drop a couple of yards on the right Del piero can play left midfield and you get 5-4-1or 4-5-1.
You can easily change within the game. You only have change positions slightly and we have the players to do that. Guys like DP, Nedved Zanetti Buffon... have enough experience to do that without a coach telling them. So all this bs about too offensive comes from guys who don't know what they talking about.
Mourinho played 4-3-3 last year and you can hardly call him offesive Barca play 4-3-3 and do that in a completely different way as Chelsea or Lyon with Ronaldinho left and Messi right. They hardly defend with the team. That's a choice of the coach given the players he has got.
Football is more then hust putting names on paper all depends on the instucions they got.

I was totally against the Iaquinta signing to begin with and don't want him on the right side of a trident. The guy doesn't really excel there and we'll be wasting a perfectly good position on somebody that doesn't really play there. This is why I sort of hope we keep Camoranesi as I'd love to see him deployed on the right side of the main striker. He would be much more useful than Iaquinta and I think he would own if he was given more of a free role up top than strictly a right-wing position.

But I still think with the core of midfielders we have, especially the two players we've purchased with experiance in a three man midfield, that the said formation will work out. We'll see.

I don't sway towards Iaquinta's style pf play as well, as I think that he sometimes loses his concentration and he is a bit clumsy. But I wasn't against signing him, as I thought he'd be considered as a backup to Trezeguet or something. But from what we hear daily, he'll be fielded as a regular starter. Also, I hope we'll keep Camoranesi, he is more experienced, skillful and already adapted to the team, plus he can perform his defensive roles well. I remember when Deschamps placed him as a centre midfielder alongside Nedved in front of Venitucci in our match against Lecce and he was doing pretty well especially defensively, I've to admit.

Exactly. Let Ale and Nedved do whatever they want up top. Pavel will of course drop back to help the midfield and hover around the box, doing what he does best, while Alex will float to the left flank. These players are experianced enough to just run the attack anyway they'd like to. That's how I would deploy them at least.

But how the formation and the starting eleven will look like in the presence of a trident in the front including Nedved and a trident in the middle? I mean do you want to say that we have to place Nedved in front of Almiron - Zanetti - Tiago? This is the best I can think about right now, with Nedved roaming in front with Del Piero to supply Trezeguet. In my opinion it would be so effective, but Iaquinta's presence in the formation has confused me a bit, as I previously explained.

I just don't see how something such as a Quagliarella(Miccoli) - Iaquinta - Del Piero strikeforce would work. It's really not the same thing as a Ravanelli - Vialli - Del Piero trident.

This is what I have been hinting at from the start. I'm don't doubt the capabilities of our new signings and our midfielders as a whole, but I doubt the roles which our front trident is capable of. As you said, Ravanelli, Vialli and Del Piero was an amazing solid hardworking frontline.

You can shift into may formations from many formations that isn't a unique aspect of the 4-3-3. Who the hell wants a Striker to drop back as a winger anyway genious.

I think our weakness is Grygera at CB and our non-combative midfield. We do have to win the ball back before we can possess it. I like Tiago, but I think Almiron is almost the same type of player, so I really don't think they should start in the same midfield. I would rather see Salihamidzic out there. He is a workhorse.

Also, Del Piero in a Trident attack at his age, with our non-defensive midfielders, may force him to drop back too much and help. We can't afford to have DP too far away from the net.

Also, Milito is a very good defender, but very aggressive. If we pick him up we many not want to put Grygera next to him at CB. Zebina, Boumsong or Legrotaglie may be a better option next to Milito with Grygera at RB.

I've just tried to pick up a proper starting eleven from the available players now, that's why I opted to place Grygera to partner Milito (I still hope he'll join us, thus I have't though of anyone else as a replacement). This won't be my final squad though, as I think we still have some work to do in the mercato.

As for our midfield, already Zanetti is a class "A" destroyer and a fighter, I hoped we'd have got Gilberto Silva, but I believe that Zanetti could do the job perfectly. Almiron is a good passer and he is more than able to start organised attacks. Tiago is an all-rounder midfielder and a hardworker, however I'm not a fan of his as I think he isn't that tough, but I hope he'll blossom in Turin. As for the defensive ability of the previous trident as a whole, I reckon it is a good combination of players who definitely defend with different styles and ways, it is a good combination if you ask me. Yet, the effectiveness of such a midfield will depend greatly on harmony and assistance from the other two lines.

Yes, Salihhamdizic is a workhorse, but Ranieri will probably use 4-3-3. Hence, I think if Ranieri will have to place Salih regularly, it will be as a right back, but not instead of one of the midfield's three. Maybe if he fields him in the midfield, the midfield's creativity will be affected. Anyways, the good thing is that we have lots of versatile players who are capable of playing in more than one position.

Ranieri scares me. I hate his ideas. There is a reason why he never wins anything important. I hope Zanetti is a good as we need him to be if he is going to be the sole DM anchor. I really prefer Nocerino to anyone of our CM's at this point. He is very outstanding with the Under 21's and I think is ready to start in Serie A.

"They have the personality of a leader. These players mix the offensive and defensive play and are also as versatile as I had requested.

"They’re two real Juve players and that comforts me, as the midfield is the brain of the team."

Tactics, Three-Pronged Attack

"Considering their versatility we could have Almiron, Tiago and Cristiano Zanetti in a three-man midfield. Or Pavel Nedved, who can play a central role with those two.

He also offered an interesting insight into his plans for the Old Lady's attack: "Why can’t Iaquinta play alongside Alessandro Del Piero and maybe even Trezeguet? I am curious to see what the pre-season period will tell me.

"I have been tracking Iaquinta for six years and complimented him after a friendly between Udinese and Chelsea, as even if he was a little rough, you could see he had the characteristics of a great player.

"In fact, now he is a World Cup winner. I like him because he never gives in and fights for every ball. This is the Juve spirit of the warrior that we need."

Nedved Stay

Ranieri has been known to put together rather imaginative and attacking teams, so it comes as no surprise that he could try three up front. It might become an even more likely possibility should Pavel Nedved leave the club.

However, the Juve coach is hoping that the Czech playmaker stays: "Like everyone, I hope he’ll stay. He suffered in Serie B, so why should he not take this team in hand and lead them back into Serie A? I think he will continue, as he is like those batteries that never run out of charge."

defiantly, stamina is essential and we have plenty of it imo even from our backup players.

Claudio's hardest challenge will be molding a team out of the players we have and making them function as a unit.
offensively with regards to string the passes or whatever style of play hes thinking and more important defensively where in the 433 duties will be given to everyone from the center backs to the forwards.

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has stressed that he expects big things from his newly-promoted Bianconeri side in the coming season.

The excitement in Turin has been growing ever since the Old Lady secured their return ticket to Serie A, but it remains to be seen whether a summer spending spree will be enough to regain a place amongst the Scudetto contenders.

After miraculously delivering Parma from relegation last term, Ranieri is full of confidence and isn’t ready to accept anything less than the best.

“We have a burning desire for victory – it’s in our DNA,” he explained in Hurra Juventus magazine. “First we’ll demonstrate it domestically, and then in Europe.

“I can guarantee I will tell my players the one thing I have always said in my career – I don’t care who we’re playing, I just want to win.”

However, the ex-Fiorentina tactician was willing to admit that it may take a little time to turn Cadetti champions into top-flight heavyweights.

“The fans must understand that rebuilding a squad and returning it to its past glories will take some time,” he admitted.

Meanwhile, Czech winger Pavel Nedved’s future at the club lies in the balance, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

“There was a meeting, but it wasn’t satisfactory,” he stated. “We’ll meet again next week to try and resolve the situation.”

Mauro Camoranesi and his representative Sergio Fortunato are also set to discuss a contract extension before the end of the week.

Juventus returned to training on Wednesday at the Dolomite resort of Pinzolo.

I think Juve expect a CL spot for next season, Scudetto in two and Quarter final at least in CL . We have a good squad but will need strenthening our defence. We are absolutely not as bad as some of you seem to think. Top 3 is definitly possible in the upcoming season.
