Ranieri: There's no Man City deal
Saturday 2 June, 2007
Claudio Ranieri has confirmed he has “not yet” spoken to Manchester City, fuelling reports he is on the verge of signing for Juventus.
The Coach has now been freed from Parma after rescuing the club from an almost certain relegation and is in demand from top sides.
Although the link with Manchester City stretches back some weeks, the offer from Juve has come as a very tempting package to replace Didier Deschamps.
‘Sky Sports News’ in the UK asked Ranieri – who was in London for last night’s 1-1 friendly draw between England and Brazil – whether he had already spoken to Manchester City.
“No. Not yet,” was his response. "I had four years (in England), it went very, very well and I had fantastic seasons. I'd like to come back and I am looking forward. Maybe but nothing is sure. For me it is exciting to save Parma.”
With the Bianconeri in the balance, returning to Serie A after Calciopoli and looking to strengthen the squad, it is an intriguing challenge for the former Fiorentina and Chelsea boss.
“I like to come to England, but there are also some important questions in Italy,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, new reports this morning suggest that David Trezeguet is heading for La Liga, but not to the previously linked Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’ claims he is working out a deal with good friend and former Juve striker Daniel Fonseca, who is now a FIFA agent, to broker the move to Valencia.
