The Juventus coach admired his team's performance during the first friendly match of the season which the Bianconeri won 5-0 against Serie C2 side Mezzocorona.

Coach Claudio Ranieri, in his debut match on the bench of Juventus, declared his satisfaction for the way his team performed, hailing the squad's team spirit.

Ranieri in fact said that he was pleased with the entire squad who all played in this game, bar Buffon, Camoranesi and Del Piero who are still not at their best, but should return soon to the playing field.

"I especially liked the positive spirit from the entire team," commented Ranieri at the end of the game.

"My idea is to play simple, with the players who become available for those who have the ball."

Boumsong, Trezeguet, Salihamidzic, Palladino and Marchionni were the scorers for the Bianconeri in a game that was played under a scorching sun.

Not true. Capello tried Camoranesi as a central midfielder in 4-4-2, where he would be the two-way midfielder, sort of like Tiago was when he played at Chelsea. But in the world cup Camoranesi played as a central midfielder, on the right side of a three man midfield. Italy, like Milan, played a very narrow formation with the fullbacks providing all the width. It doesn't matter if you call it central or right midfielder, but Camo has proven that he can play on the right side of a three man midfield.

Claudio Ranieri says Juventus will not be adding to their squad before the start of the new season.

The Italian giants have already made 13 new signings ahead of their return to Serie A.

And boss Ranieri admits he is happy with the squad he has assembled at the Delle Alpi.

"Some may say that we need a defender, a midfielder or a striker, but I say that the market is closed. We are not buying anyone else," Ranieri told Gazzetta dello Sport.

recruited

The former Chelsea coach has already recruited Vincenzo Laquinta (Udinese), Tiago Mendes (Lyon), Sergio Alimron (Empoli), Hasan Salihamidzic (Bayern Munich), Jorge Andrade (Deportivo La Coruna), Zdenek Grygera (Ajax) and Domenico Criscito (Genoa).

He also stressed that if Marcelo Zalayeta does leave he would not be making any changes to his current crop of players.

Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri has revealed that Giorgio Chiellini will not join Manchester City this summer.

The highly-rated defender was expected to be the latest Serie A addition to Sven Goran Eriksson’s squad, but the Turin outfit have insisted they will not sell him.

Ranieri has also stated that there will no more new arrivals in Turin this summer as he is content with the current squad at his disposal.

The Old Lady has been paired with several players, including Gabriel Heinze of Manchester United and Fernando Meira of Stuttgart, with pundits claiming their defence needs tightening.

“We will not be making any new signings,” said Ranieri. “Many think we need a defender, but I consider our transfer campaign over.

“I would have been surprised had Chiellini decided to leave, but I am not surprised that he will stay.”

Juventus face Inter and Napoli in the Birra Moretti Trophy tournament at the Stadio San Paolo tomorrow evening, with Ranieri insisting that fitness is the key.

“I understand the fans’ expectations, but I consider this just another step towards our best condition,” he said.

“These tournaments are important, but what really counts is the championship and the big match with Inter on November 4.

“It doesn’t matter if we aren’t at our best now, but that we are fit for August 26 when the new season gets up and running.”
-----------------------------------------------------------

this is what concerns me the most. This shows two things, either our direction is wrong by comparing this team to Inter(who are much better).Or the directions and the expectation for this season has not been set up properly, which is very dangerous and could lead to under performing massively

Juventus were defeated by Newcastle United and Hamburg in recent weeks and were held to a 1-1 draw by Sunderland last Saturday.
