Ranieri in Juve contract row
Sunday 19 July, 2009
There are reports that Claudio Ranieri is taking legal action against Juventus for the remaining year on his contract.
The Coach was fired in May with just two Serie A games remaining, but had a contract until June 30, 2010.
It’s reported he has put in an official request to be registered for the new season, but as Ciro Ferrara has already been signed up for the post, Juventus cannot have two tacticians.
This also means that, according to the rules, Juve are in breach of contract and must pay Ranieri bonuses for the remaining year of his contract, amounting to just under £1m.
In fact, 'Tuttosport’ claims this is just a ruse to force the club into reaching a mutual agreement to terminate the contract.
It would allow Ranieri to resume his career elsewhere, something he cannot do yet because he is still under contract.
The former Chelsea manager has already been linked with the job at Zenit St Petersburg.
