You calling Lippi a disgrace is very foolish. The reason he could not come in the summer is because of his son's trouble with Calciolpoli scandal and his ocurt hearings. Lippi wants to stand by him and support him till it is over and would not accept a job until it is finished. I think this is the opposite of disgrace because somethings are more important than football and being a father, no matter what age, is one of them.

Lippi has done so much for us and Italy. We should not be so quick to forget and plunge the knives into one of our own. Who knows he may be back sometime in the future but if he does or doesn't he should always have our support.
not foolish at all, i understand lippi's circumstances but i disagree with him saying 'i'll take over in october' if he cant give his full commitment straight away then he should just step away and say he will not return, asking the management to find a stop-gap coach untill after the season started is insulting and disgraceful in my eyes, maybe that quite appeals to you but i am definately not happy with it and this is why he disgraced me.

New Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has urged goalkeeper Gigi Buffon to remain with the newly promoted Serie A giants.

“Buffon represents a lot for Italy,” noted the tactician. “And Juventus have the good fortune of already having him here.

“I hope that his admission that he is 75 per cent sure of staying here will soon turn to 100 per cent.

“I need players like him, Alex Del Piero, Pavel Nedved and Mauro Camoranesi to help the younger elements of the squad we have here to mature.”

Ranieri’s call will have undoubtedly been welcomed by the No 1 who has reacted well to the appointment.

The former Parma boss agreed to a three-year contract with the Bianconeri on Monday and Buffon is delighted.

“Ranieri is a good professional who has gained international experience and this is very important,” noted the World Cup winner.

“I had already stated that I was impressed with such an option. I do not know Ranieri personally, but I feel he is a nice guy and I am confident he can do well.

“I think this is a wise decision and we are very happy about it.”

Now reports in the peninsula are suggesting that Buffon, wanted by Milan and Real Madrid, will stay with the Old Lady for at least one more year.

Meanwhile, some sections of the media insist that Juventus are preparing a bid for Chelsea’s Frank Lampard.

However, the chances of landing the midfielder, who worked under Ranieri at Stamford Bridge, look slim.

Juventus have revealed they handed Claudio Ranieri the manager's job ahead of three or four other candidates.

The former Chelsea boss took charge of the Bianconeri on Monday, ending any hope Manchester City had of luring him to Eastlands.

Ranieri won many plaudits in leading Parma to Serie A safety this season, and won the prestigious post ahead of a number of unnamed contenders, according to Juve chief officer Jean-Claude Blanc.

"We made this choice after a professional evaluation," Blanc told the Italian press. "We believe that this one is the best possible solution for Juve's present and future.

"His attitude and behaviour then, are following the style we want to give to our club.

"I think Ranieri believed in our plan; he's the right man to build a team that could be a mix of champions and young players.

"In our list there were another three or four names, but the end choice we took was Ranieri. I have no intention of revealing who were the other names.

"The sporting plan we presented Ranieri is the same we had offered to Deschamps; a contract until 2010 with salary practically the same.

"Didier didn't consider it enough, everyone makes his own choices and takes his own responsibilities."

DD's departure wasn't about money
So true...

DD's departure was due to him not being able to make Juve the French national team!
Sorry Alfio, but so false. DD just bought Boumsong. And it is a normal thing to have at least two French players in the club since more than 10 years. So, IMO it had nothing to do with him prefering the French players.

The first mission should be earning a champions league spot and this is the most important one. Hence, we can restore some of our reputation, but obviously not all of it. What is more, we should convince our opponents before our friends. And don't tell me that you'll be satisfied if we beat Torino 3-0 and get thrashed by Inter 4-0. Our direct clashes with our big opponents should be taken strongly into account. Furthermore, re-building our team shall be our second mission but not the first. In fact, I believe we're capable of doing it.
your wasting so much time with such long posts, the season hasnt even started yet and we dont know what is our squad for next season.

clashes with other big opponents will be taken seriously. ranieri`s chelsea didnt got beaten 4:0 by manu or liverpool for example. Your talking nonsense here!

Zola: Ranieri best coach for Juventus

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola says Claudio Ranieri is the "best coach for Juventus".

Zola worked under Ranieri for five years with Chelsea and said today upon the ex-Parma coach's appointment: "Ranieri is a coach indeed of great quality, beyond that he's a wonderful person.

"I will say you more: he is the best trainer for a certain type of team. Juve is just that type of team. And best of all is the way he values young players, he's a phenomenon in making them bloom without risking burnout or subjecting them to exaggerated pressures."

Now Italy U21 assistant coach, Zola continued: "I repeat: he is by far the best to coach a big club with young champions. And for the Under 21s, our Under 21s, this cannot be but a great development. Just consider Mimmo Criscito, Paolino De Ceglie, Claudio Marchisio, Sebastian Giovinco, all young Bianconeri players that are doing great things also for the Italy U21s."
