I think Marchisio was one of the better players today. Can't think of a time where he did anything wrong, which is more than can be said about several others.

I dont even understand how someone can watch a football match and say that a player who was basically every where and indeed played a good game still say that the worst player on the field was better
Poca roba

Being everywhere, doing close to nothing counts for little. As a b2b mid he needs to offer more and by more I mean in the final 3rd. Not a single chance he managed to create tonight. Vidal for instance had created 4-5 dangerous situations. As for his defensive work apart form that blunder, which could have been quite costly, he was solid. As I've said previously his performance was decent at most. He can do better.

If you could tell Vidal was clearly playing in a more advanced role compared to Marchisio

I'm sure they count as little as misplaced passes and losses of possession.
I've already pointed out that he's sloppy in possession tonight, but then again he contributed more in our offensive part of the game. No clear winner between those 2 tonight, even though I could make a case that Vidal's assist was vital.

They're both b2b mids and Marchisio should make more runs like he used to do before.

What makes you think that its Marchisio's decision to make those runs? What if Conte told him to specifically not make those runs or play more defensive?

Actually it was pointed out several times last season that Vidal and Marchisio had basically swapped who was making breaks from midfield, although it does depend on the opposition and direct opponent.

I doubt it as those runs are big part of his game and he was very good at it. He's still not 100% fit and hopefully we'll see more of those moves from him.

You guys can't be serious. Have our standards really dropped this much? A player presses a few times and someone actually has the nerve to say he was 'great' and 'immense'.

Look at his work with the ball. He's doing nothing productive. He's not great at entry passes, not great at spreading the play, not great at link up, basically not contributing anything. Somehow its become acceptable that a player who simply passes the ball to the closest man to himself is doing something productive.

Then there's his real big weakness. He doesn't make himself available to a pass at all times which is one of midfielders great responsibilities. In the second half you could literally count 5 mins between his touches on the ball and that's absurd.

But no, 'he pressed well and didn't make a mistake. So he was great'...spare me the agony please. He's the very definition of a nothing footballer.

"Ravel Morrison has more natural ability in his pinky toe on his left foot than Marchisio has in his whole body."

Am I doing it right?
