His role in this team should be very important, though. We have Vidal who should offer him more space too with his aggressive play. He should be offering many assists even if we have Pirlo. And I want to point out that I do like Vidal - Pirlo - Marchisio trio, but I don't think he's delivering.
To me he looks like he's playing for a different team, his role looks to weird. His passes are always short and he tries to play fast, while he's the only player who does that. And his long passes this season are pretty much painful.

You're right about that. It's like he's playing in a different system from the rest of the team. He just makes the short passes and moves, ready to receive it again, but no one else on the team really plays like that. So often I see him pass and make a good run but the other players don't see it because they've already decided to play it wide or to Pirlo (especially Giaccherini - zero/zero vision). He's certainly not a very direct player.
Whether it's by the coach's design or that's just the only way he knows to play, I don't know. He would do well in a team like Roma or Arsenal.
Either Conte instructs him to play short passes and moves without attempting to be adventurous with his passing because we have Pirlo. Or that's just the way he plays and it doesn't fit the team's style perfectly (although he still is a major asset to the team). It's probably the latter anyway; he's always played like this.
And he would do well at those teams because that's how they play - pass and move, pass and move.
Even with the drop in his form, he's still one of our best players in this season. People didn't notice that half our team had a quite a drop in form, Licht, Vidal, Vucinic, Matri.., all had a average start of the year.
