Here's a question (I guess it was discussed already, but I missed it)

Would Vidal - Marchisio work in your opinion, in case we play 4-4-2/4-2-4?

And no, before some clown says I want to bench Pirlo, I do not.

I have no idea, but sooner or later Pirlo is gonna have to take a rest (hopefully not do to an injury). I think we would be effective but not nearly as fluid as we are when Pirlo is in. We would be damn hard to break down through the middle, that's for sure.

Good question though. Our wingers would need to be on their top game.

I think it might. Both players would have to be more disciplined than they've needed to be so far this season--either one stay deep and allow the other to roam or they interchange, Man Utd style.

I think it could work quite well. Neither of them would really "replace" Pirlo, but they both would provide different aspects. Which could work even better than Pirlo in some games.

As good as Pirlo has been for us, relying on him in a 2-man midfield asks way too much of the guy he's partnered up with. I know Marchisio has done really well at allowing Pirlo to play his game so far, but how long can he (or anyone else) keep up with that?
And it also remains to be seen whether Vidal could cope with that role. Based on the little I've seen of him, I'm afraid he may not be disciplined enough.

yes, will definitely work.

Vidal seems infinitely more intelligent than Melo.

Conte: “People keep asking me who could be my heir at Juventus… It is very difficult to say because everyone has their own characteristics, and football changes. However if there was a player that comes close, it is definitely Marchisio. Skilled in penetration, great tactical versatility, very smart. We look alike, but I think that he is actually a better player than me and I wish him even more success than I had.
