Anyone dissing Marchisio today is a fool! He worked very hard to win the balls in the midfield and passed the ball around to the players who make the difference and that killer pass. Not every CM has to be like Pirlo. Not everyone has to have killer passes all game long. His role was vital to the team today and he capped it off with good movement for his goal.

I think Conte should be eager to try 4-3-3 with Marchisio-Pirlo-Vidal in the future. Sadly that'll mean no place for DP, but I think the sum of the parts will be stronger than DP.

Forza Claudio!

His goal was great, but the assist was even greater.
What assist? Pirlo assisted Licht and him, DP assisted Pepe, and Vidal's goal deflected off from a Vucinic goal attempt.

Indeed. I've been harsh towards him for last season's performance, but his contribution today is clear to the careful watcher rather than the one looking for killer passes and orgasmic play.

Marchisio and Pepe are quite similar in a sense that they seem mediocre for long periods of time and then produce a moment of magic which makes them seem like better players than they actually are. I'd like us to keep trying 4-3-3 but if it's a choice between Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio I'd still take the first 2 every time.

The best match from Marchisio I have seen in a long while.

Not so much the goal, which was an excellent take. FYI- All 4 goals socred this match were higlight worthy, which says something right there.

His performance today was the main reason why Pirlo was allowed to do what Pirlo was supposed to do.

marchisio shut down the middle of the pitch, provided that wall between the midfielders and the defenders. he created the space for pirlo to perform his magic.

I was very impressed by him today.

Good game.

Allowed Pirlo freedom, good energy to get back and defend, plus a superb finish.

He needs to keep getting himself in the box because his finishing is impressive.

Was his usual self in the first half. In the second half he made himself much more useful. Lots of dangerous forward runs and such a classy finish on that goal.

Even in the first half he was very good. He made a lot of interceptions, pressed very aggressively allowing us to win the back quickly, he tackled hard, always showed for the ball to get it form the defence, was always an option for Pirlo and opened space for Pirlo with his little touch-and-goes, rarely lost possession and even tried some long range passes with some being successful.

Ive always highly appreciated his technique and workrate yet the majority here ridicule him and nickname him mr invisible?!!

A lot of knee jerking today with peeps swaying positive remarks towards Marchi today, but i think this is just the beginning for him especially that we have a coach who seems to have an incredible amount of faith and trust in him

Forza Marchi!!Top notch strikers would struggle scoring his goal!!

You are entirely wrong. Because he didn't score in the first half and didn't run around making spectacular tackles, he was invisible.
