it is difficult to say cos marchisio played out of position, but if you look at statistics I say Marchisio. If I look at defensive tackles won and everything defensive I say Melo.
But you can compare those two because the one should be creative and the other should be a defensive. Lets put marchisio as dm he would probably fail. Lets put melo as lw he would probably fail.
Pirlo and marchisio are fighting for one spot and melo and pazienza were fighting for one spot. Now it will be Vidal and pazienza
Lol, I tried imagining Melo at LW. That would indeed be epic fail :D

Capitano Futuro: Claudio Marchisio Interview (http://iltifosi.tumblr.com/)

On Saturday afternoon Claudio Marchisio was interviewed as part of the fan interaction at the summer ritiro in Bardonecchia. He had much to say and for those who don’t speak/read Italian, here is that lengthy conversation in English.

Claudio how do you feel out there on the left?
“I feel good, definitely. It’s a different role and I have always considered myself - as I always said - a central midfielder, but even then I do not mind, however, because it’s always good. Even today, on two or three occasions, we have had good interplay between Andrea [Pirlo], Michele [Pazienza] and myself, so I’m glad it went well and we followed the words of the coach.”

From your point of view, is your flexibility an advantage or may it bother you in the long-term? Maybe you would like to eventually have a clearer role?
“The coach, first of all, the first day he called me and told me that he still knows what my role and in fact even most of today I played central midfield. Then it is normal in this period. Another day where Martinez had a physical problem so then I played as a fourth attacker on the left. The coach knows that I’m always available and in any case for me is not so great a sacrifice. I occasionally like to move to the left because I always I like to get into the box. Today we are successful, so there are no problems on this, even if in the future the coach wants me to play there, you know that is my role. There is no problem on this.”

This summer has anyone come to you or your agent with an offer for another team? Are you willing to leave Juve? Is it a consideration that you have or would you stay here at any cost?
“Look, this summer the only phone calls I received were those from my father asking how I was, so I knew nothing about the rest. When I returned to my site and my facebook page, I read about certain things, Roma and others, but as I said, I have just signed a five-year contract and I’m really happy. I have already spoken with the club and with the coach and confirmed that they are comfortable, to commit myself here and these are important words for me, so there are no problems.”

Can we ask an opinion of what happened yesterday between the Ultra? Do not you think in the long run, especially in light of the attitudes of the past, these hooligans can be a disadvantage?
“For what happened yesterday you’re absolutely right, these things should not happen, especially in these environments, here in ritiro in the mountains, where there are so many families, many children. But unfortunately the dispute about control of the stadium and between fans on each side over the reasons for failing the past two years. However, we did not get good results and from a team like Juventus much more is expected. The only thing we can say is that this year we are working to try to remedy the past two years where they have had great sorrow.”

What goals can this team achieve?
“We had a really bad two years, in all respects. We started well and then after Christmas we had a fall that a team like Juventus can not have. We have great players, beyond whether we can get someone else or not. What is important is that even in the early days, as seen by the new staff and by the coach, there is so much desire. The coach also knows this environment and we are doing much work on pressing, rhythm, and intensity - what we need to improve on in recent years because we lacked that. He, again, knows what he wants. We are following Conte very well in these early days. Even though the team that we faced yesterday was not of very high level, for the first friendly match the team did just what he asked.”

What changed for you now that you are alongside a player like Pirlo? Maybe that was what was missing? As he was missing a reference?
“I’ve already expressed to Andrea and so many words I’ll never stop it because I believe that in recent years, a midfielder like him, on a technical level, so good with the ball, we never had. For us it is very important. I saw in the National team and in any case, beyond those who played, there was always a lot of trust in giving the ball to him. as we have seen in the early days here, he is well integrated. He is definitely a major player. Last year he had a difficult time with injuries and there are many of his Azzurri team-mates. He has a great desire to rebuild and win with Juventus.”

The other night on stage Conte said that you are the player who plays most like him. He also said you are stronger than him. Also, when you have been compared to Tardelli you said you had reviewed some of his footage?
“I do not know if I can become stronger than him as a player, but I just hope to win what he won. I care only for that. If I bcame that guy I would be very happy. As far as I remember Tardelli there are pictures of me and him on YouTube that I watched a few times, but I think we are a little different. I try to adapt to various situations, but the comparison with both makes me happy.”

Anything you envy about the coach?
“Yes, I hope to win what he won. I played even as a youth at Juventus, I have always been accustomed to winning as a child and up to Primavera I won everything. Now it must happen with Juventus in the first team.”

Would you be better elsewhere as a guaranteed central midfielder or being a utility man here?
“… Isn’t that why I signed this contract for five years? Otherwise I would not have signed, and every year since I arrived, I never had a steady role, I always tried to conquer it, beyond the fact that a coach say you start or not. I can only work during the week and try to prove that I am always available, then the coach will make his choices.”

Conte gave the example of Barcelona. I wanted to know if you have talked about in this model, if there was a discussion of tactics and what do you think? Then if after many years of not winning you expect all this excitement?
“I am loving the last question, this is very important for us. These last few years we all try to follow more because Barcelona has a game that is spectacular, however, they are players who have grown up together for so many years, like Xavi and Iniesta. They have a great champions and we try to imitate them. But we have our own type of game, the coach has definite ideas and we are trying to follow them.
He prefers the offensive style seen in the first friendly and it was certainly very spectacular for us, more than in recent years. But he is not asking the two wingers to always be in front, he also asks them to come back and help out. At the end on defence our formation is always 4-4-2.”

Went to the Juve home page today, hate what Juventus tries to make of this guy. Doesn't add up to the hype when it comes to a grand successful youth product, descent performance 3 out of 5 games just giving him that at best. Still like the guy just not the Masterbation of his Ego

Has anyone else noticed on the pics from all the different trainings how Conte always seems to be next to Marchisio, or giving him pointers etc.? And, does anyone get the impression that Conte places a lot of faith in Marchisio? I have noticed this several times. I may be mistaken, but, its just my opinion.

Marchisio has the right mentality, the last year's bad spell is not justified, but i still believe that the lack of determination was the main reason and not the lack of talent/quality or unwillingness to adapt in a wider role.
Marchisio has great ambitions and once he realised this team, with that coach cannot achieve them, he stopped trying that hard.
He is not a player than can be a leader.
Melo was, Neddy was, Conte was, they kept trying were the rest were losing hope, Marchisio can adapt his play to top level game, but cannot make the difference by himself.

Marchisio this, Marchisio that. This whole summer they've been shoving Marchisio down our throats as if he was Del Piero. I don't like it at all, he needs to deserve this status first.
