I really like Marchisio and I'd love for him to reach the level where he's worthy of our armband, but to be honest the criticism of him is valid.

Sure, he's been played out of position for most of this season, but even when he played in the middle, he'd go missing for long spells.

Like you said, he's very technically gifted and barely puts a foot wrong, but I often look out specifically for Marchisio when I'm watching our matches, and he just doesn't impose himself on the game enough.

As Adrian said, his close control and dribbling are quite good, and you'll rarely see him spill a first touch or make a wayward pass.

The problem is that he has a high percentage game without big numbers to make those percentages impressive.

A two minute Youtube search brings up a couple of examples of him showing some dribbling ability. Like I said, the times he does these things are few and far between, and by no means am I saying he's the next Ronaldinho, but he has it in him.

i am sure conte will give him his last push to become the best and won't let him play on the lw in a 4-4-2 cos that was just disrespectful to the talents of Claudio dumb neri
him and inler in a 4-2-3-1 formation would absolutely shine and would make looks milan and inter midfield as a bunch of old clowns

I'm not saying that he does it on a regular basis; in fact, my original post (which was actually a criticism of Marchisio to begin with!) was clearly saying that he has the ability, but he doesn't do it often enough.

And when he doesn't become the "best", what will the excuse be then? Lack of solar flares?

I like that Marchisio is a juventino and so on, but let's face it, he is average at everything.

He is apparently a box to box midfielder but he can't shoot outside of the box...

But isn't the whole point of having skill and ability in something mean actually showing it regularly?

I think it does. It would be nice if that wasn't the way it works; otherwise I could say my shooting ability is class because of two 40 yard goals I scored when I was younger.
