I was mostly referring to the fact that Marchisio has been a regular for many seasons now. If you're just talking about this season, then you could indeed say the same for Aqui. It's still different for me personally though, since Aquilani isn't even our player to begin with. Not yet anyway.



I do appreciate the irony surrounding all these Marchisio discussions though. Very much so, even.
We've got a shitload of people complaining & criticizing the board for our youth policy, or lack thereof: we're ruining youngsters, they don't get any (real) chances, etc, etc.
And then when a player finally does manage to come through the ranks and actually turns out to be decent & useful, a big part of those very same people wouldn't hesitate a second to sell & subsequently replace him with an incoming player.

Same with Aberdeen, for some reason, especially with players who are from Aberdeen.

Where most teams give youth players and local guys the benefit of the doubt, Aberdeen fans seem to be suspicious players are getting a game just because they are locals and would rather have someone who is shite but has an exciting foreign name.

Claudio Marchisio feels Juventus must recapture the club’s trademark mentality. “We’ve all got to spit blood for this shirt!”

Unless the Bianconeri beat Napoli on Sunday evening and Roma lose at home to Sampdoria, they will be out of Europe altogether next season.

“What made this club great in the past was its mentality,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“They never gave in and managed to fight back in games that seemed to be lost. This is the aspect we must work on to improve and the spirit that new players have to adopt.

“Juve are a different club to the others and there are always great expectations from the fans. Once we came up from Serie B after Calciopoli, we had achieved third and second place, but for the last two seasons we’ve failed to achieve our objectives.

One of the figures who most exemplified that attitude was Antonio Conte, who is the hot favourite to be on the bench next season.

Marchisio grew up in the Juventus youth academy and this week put pen to paper on a contract extension to 2016.

Not necessarily an overall 'poor mentality', but he certainly doesn't embody anything of the traditional Juve mindset, least that of which he described himself in those quotes.

At the moment, I reckon only Buffon, Chiellini, Del Piero and, despite not necessarily showing it fully for the club yet, Quagliarella, have it.

Melo certainly gives a damn on the pitch, but to be honest, is that all that the Juve mentality is? I think not.

Certainly that's a large portion of it, but to me, it was more so of having that winners' mentality. The air of confidence, the manner of play that showed the team was not scared of anyone, sometimes cynical and always staying on task - getting the points and completing the job. It wasn't something spontaneous or sporadic, but something that was always there, week in and week out, ingrained into all the players.

Not surprising really. Many criticism can be placed towards him, it's harder to find a way to praise the guy.
