Italy have begun their first training session at the South Downs College in Irene, Centurion, but they were without Andrea Pirlo, while Claudio Marchisio eventually showed up, but trained apart from the squad.
Pirlo was absent because he is still nursing a calf muscle strain. Marchisio performed a seperate programme of exercises according to Sky Sport 24, but the reasons behind this are not totally clear.
The session began at around 15:30 with the squad of players looking relaxed and in a good mood as players got used to the their new surroundings.
After some stretching and jogging the players performed light ball work in what was largely a warm down session. There was no heavy work due to the 10-hour flight from Milan last night.
Marcello Lippi will hold a press conference after the training session.
