He looked really out of his depth today, I'll write this one off as a result of the collective shitter out team took as he is usually much better than this. Shouldn't be the focal point of criticism today. Pirlo, our strikers, our entire defence and Buffon have much more shit coming their way.

Think about it, Pogba was France's best player against Spain. And in a position that requires extreme skill and maturity to pull off. He's definitely ready to start.

That's not equivalent to being in a great form.
I don't know what constitutes as great form for you. Sure, he hasn't scored every game he's started, or given assists. But he's one of the best at running the midfield.

I'm guessing in Conte's mind Pogba covers Vidal's (and to some extent Pirlo's) role in his tactics but not Claudio. Just see how many times Claudio got subbed off with Pogba, and compare the same thing with Vidal/Pirlo being subbed off with him.

Conte's a midfielder FFS, he knows what he wants from his midfielder, he knows the game. Now this is pure speculation but 4-3-3 didn't really leave us here, Claudio was supposedly to take the role as the third (hidden) forward with his run.

Why didn't Conte select him to play against Bayern?..........

No really, it was a disgusting performance, truly disgusting. How does he manage to be so anonymous? Like he even manages to stay out of sight of all the cameras in the stadium? Does he roll up some turf and lay under it for long periods of the match?

How I wish today's Marchisio would have been the same that we saw against Inter. We needed something like that since Pirlo was fucking blocked all the fucking time.

Whenever he does this he shows up big the next game. hopefully he will next week, I believe he is the one that can get us through to the next round.

I expect him to play the game of his life in the return leg, I know he has it in him.

Also, did anyone else notice at least for part of the game that he was positioned very far out on the left?

Yes at the very end, almost as a LM or LWB. I thought Conte would've played 4-3-1-2 since Peluso was replaced. But I'm not sure.

Because Peluso wasn't tracking back, at least 2 times Chiellini and Bonnucci was shouting at him, he was literally walking.

Most of our players had a bad performance, but Marchisio's was really really bad.
And he is not a serie B player like Peluso, Italy and Juve both need from Marchisio to step up and reach the level of decent performances in this level.

Vidal was at least doing something useful, this guy was nowhere to be found. I think it was 24th minute when he first touched the ball.

Listen, he was poor just like the rest of his teammates (barring Arturo). He wasn't distinguishably poor.

I thought Pirlo was way worse and both Claudio and Arturo had to cover for his fuckups.
