I'm not talking specifically about Marchisio but in general, we got rid of Lemina, Rincon and other scrap in order to get stronger and more useful players, and in order to compete on all fronts we need to have strong bench too, just look at Real's bench.

Of course some players won't start as many games as they want, but that's the the thing when you are part of the group, otherwise we should buy strongest 11 and put primavera on the bench.
