Marchisio thanks Calciopoli

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio says it's thanks to the Calciopoli scandal that he has established himself as an Italy international.

The 24-year-old got his first opportunities to shine in a Juventus shirt when they were relegated to Serie B in 2006.

“I would like to once again thank Calciopoli because if it hadn't been for the scandal I would have got here much later.

“I often played in the reserve team under Deschamps, but then I found space in the first team.

“For all our youngsters Calciopoli was an opportunity, not just at Juve, but also for Roma and Milan to focus on youngsters.

“Amid the scandal, financial and image problems, different clubs had the courage that they might not otherwise have found.”

I didn't like that comment at all. He is thankful for Calciopoli, I mean that is possibly the biggest insult he can make against Juventus.

I understand what he means, but he should be more careful with his words. This interview hurt me.

He doesn't have to choose Juventus over his own career at all, get over it.

He bleeds for this club, go into the Grosso thread because he is a huge insult to Juventus, wandering around the field as if he couldn't give a fuck.

Stupid comment by Marchisio.

Personally I don't care but this isn't likely to be well received by numerous Juve fans. Still I hope he is captain someday.

I haven't read it in Italian yet, but I really doubt that Marchisio stated something like that without any form of provocation whatsoever. He was probably asked to say something about the current evolution in the Calciopoli trial.

Anyway, I forgive him. It's Marchisio. I'll always forgive him if he doesn't leave.

"Ringrazio Calciopoli".

I don't know why you are all so pissy, he's just saying the truth, hes saying if it were not for the calciopoli, many youngsters at Juve would not have played at all, and its the same for Roma and Milan. He is saying that Calciopoli gave a chance to all the youngsters, and that due to the scandal, money problems, and image, many clubs had to take certain actions they would not normally have taken
