i don't really see how one can be given more credit as a player because one converts penalties, even if marchisio did take the penalties it wouldn't hide his other deficiencies that he gets criticized for

marchisio could have easily missed them as he could have scored them which wouldn't really help him. You could have said that Barzagli would get more attention if he took the penalties as well but ultimately he is judged for his abilities as a defender like marchisio is as a midfielder and not as a goalscorer, but as i said Vidal's ability to convert penalties is not why he is rated highly or more so than marchisio.
