Marchisio Pogba Vidal in itself is a good midfield. But if the rest of the formation is as it is, we would seriously lack in ideas on the pitch.

Pirlo isn't going anywhere anyway.
Fucking spot on!! THis is what i have been saying all along. A midfield of Vieira - Makelele - Emerson looks unbelievable on paper, but in practise when it comes to performing on the pitch it would be one dead midfield that will buckle and fall-apart at the first slight pressure from the opposing team.

That is why we were so amazing last year. We had a perfect balance between creativity and muscle. Pirlo was in-form, Vidal was running like mad and destroying opositions, Marchisio was a combination of these two things, Pepe was a Vidal and Vucinic was played in his natural position which also contributed in our team having extra creativity in the final third.

This year, we had an out-of-form Pirlo, amazing Vidal, bellow-par Marchisio, out-of-form-and-position Vucinic and Giovinco and all this combined meant only one thing.....lack of ideas and goal-scoring.

Zuniga is offensively better than Asamoah. Asamoah's better defensively though, but if you play a 3-5-2 with 2 defensive wing backs and a Higuain - Llorente pairing upfront, it would take a miracle to score a goal.

We can always play Asamoah there when we need to add muscle defensively.

I'm not a fan of Zuniga, he's in noway a 'significant' upgrade on Asamoah IMO. Plus, as you mentioned, he plays for our rivals. That makes him unaffordable.

Zuniga would slow our possesion play down a lot. He does not posess asamoah's technique and vision. Moreover he constantky has to cut back to his right leg.
What vision? To pass it back to Marchisio or Chiellini? In fact, Asamoah is the one who slows down our possession right now.

That is actually not true.

Asamoah his pace and intelligence, has us pushing them back to their goal. He'll eighter burst past the player, and tries to cross, wich gives us plenty of corners (corners with pogba, chiellini, higuain, llorente : fuck yeah). Or he lays it to the supporting CM, beeing marchisio usually, who connects with one of the forwards or puts it wide for vidal or licht.

We contain the opponent, and its totally fine.

An Asamoah replacement, should be good enough the break that contain, and last time i checked, there is no such player in serie a, and less then 5 in europe

I just thought back about the time we played Amauri - Iaquinta or Quags - Iaquinta :touched:

corners mean nothing when you barely score from them.

for all our strong aerial players, we barely make use of them and deadball situations. thanks to a clueless pirlo mostly

Klin still going on about the horribly mediocre Zuniga :sergio:

Asamoah is light years better as an LWB (and as a player in general) Better technique, better defensively and offensively and just as strong if not stronger than in him in the tackle.

Oh, remind me again how many goals we scored from our very effective corner tactics.

Zuniga is cack.

Asamoah is a better LWB than him.
No he's not.

Maybe when we want to hold onto a result.

I'm not comparing them as players in general, I thought I made that clear enough.

I'm comparing them at LWB, and there's no way Kwadwo is light years better than him. To say he has vision is hilarious, when all he does is pass the ball back or run like a mad man when he faces a slower defender. His crosses are bad as well. Notice how they're always either too strong or too high, which is normal for a natural CM.

Again, I have nothing against him as a CM, but if we intend to keep playinh a 3-5-2, we should look at a better LWB in his place, someone as Zuniga.
