lets not whine about it and admit that we were beaten by a better team on the night.it could have been worse for us had buffon not made those brilliant saves.the good thing about this is that now we can atleast smile about the fact that gigi is getting back to his best after last night's performance.

from leading 2-1 in the 82nd minute to going down 3-2 in the end is pretty hard to digest.i went to the washroom when trez scored and when i came back bremen had scored 3!.

either way, lets give bremen get credit for outplaying us.but 3-2 still leads us as faves.though i have to admit, only 1 goal wont be good enough against bremen.i think they will score in turin and we'll need to be up by atleast 2 goals to be on the safe side, which i guess we'll manage to do in the end.

My oh my...

I can't believe we were only to score two goals past a clearly incapable Bremen defense. We played well, believe me. We were doing what we wanted.

But for me, our biggest mistake is choosing what we wanted to do in this game.

Clearly, Capello wanted to prevent Bremen from scoring which was evident from our defensive stance in this game.

Why didn't we go out and score dozens of goals against this kind of defense? Why were we so cautious in conceding goals when this is in fact an "Away" game which means it is more important to score dozens of goals which will count a lot when we bring it back to Turin in a fortnight.
Why Capello, why?

I have no doubt about our quality to defeat a Bremen side pound for pound, skill by skill. But if we approach a game against a team like this with the wrong mentallity, we will suffer!
:agree: their defens is so weak and we really should have gone out with attack and pushed them more and more....i mean when they scored and HT came i still thought if we start pushing we will win and can win 3-1 even.....second half we started to push more but still something was missing....and 4-4-2 was also wrong...

    OH PLEASE.

This is our most embarrising loss all season- against Bremen whom just recently lost at home to Kaiserlautern- who hold a staggering 20 points in the bundesliga. In other words, relagation fodder.

    Anyway, the match:

In the first half Bremen played well, but the match could of easily went in our direction. Buffon pulled off a number of good saves (special mention to the world class save from the header from Bremens corner). Zlatan, was pathetic, needless to say, and Del Piero simply needs to play and we need to sell Zlatan whilst the rest of the world thinks he is actually worth something. It is an insult to all strikers that this guy calls himself a striker looking at his finishing and awareness in goal. He almost hit the cornerflag on a one on one with the keeper and did the worst pass to Trezeguet on a 2 on 1 situation.

Other then that, Viera had a chance, but the keeper did well. The second half was going fantastic for us- 2-1 up, fantastic passes from viera, and then sloppy defending again (as our first goal was conceded, even though the pass leading up to it was superb) was what cost us. This defence is hardly water tight. This is a job Capello needs to solve.

    Anyway,

Buffon: 7- Some awesome saves, but perhaps could of done something more in the last goal. Hardly his fault though, great all round game.

Cannavaro- 5. Solid at times, shakey at others. His height let him down and it seemed he let too many headers go. At indirect fault for goal no.1

Thuram- 5.5 Slightly better than his counter part, but not authentic Thuram.

Balzeretti- 5.5 Nothing worth noting, a mixture of positives and negatives. Seemed ineffective going forward and made a few errors in defense.

Blasi- 5 For his standards anyway. I noted about one or two sucessful tackles during the match, but overall pretty poor.

Viera- 6.5 Great passing, fighting for chances and the ball, not to blame so much for this loss.

Emerson- 6 See viera, but to a lesser extent

Nedved- 6 Nice goal with the feint, lucky to be on the pitch, queit at times.

Camo- 5.5 Did pretty much nothing all game. Tried, but it was not his day

Trez- 6.5 Good leap on the goal, pounced on the defensive error.

Zlatan- 4 Unforgivable to cock up that many chances, espacially as a striker.

DP-6 Should of replaced Zlatan at half time. Notable improvement as soon as Zlatan left, however. The team just seems to play better with him on the pitch.

Anyway, no need to panic. All we need is a 1-0, which we happen to be the champs at, and we always perform much poorer away from home. Dont worry- Its obvious Bremen are inept at defending but are just good attackers. In two weeks im confident we will knock them out.

    Good to be back btw.

I agree with you on pretty much everything. However, i dont see the second leg as an easy game. Most probably Juve will be leading 1-0, and then Cap decides to defend which would allow Bremen to sneak a goal...I could see it happening easily.

I was watching the Chelsea-Barca game live, then watched the Juve recorded. There was a huge difference between these two games that it almost felt like i'm watching another sport! Messi and Robben were mindblowing!

I dont think Juve will get through, even if we manage to, we'll most probably lose at the later rounds once we meet the bigs teams. Its not gonna happen for us with Cap in charge..

It hurts to remember the chances that could've been.

It still hurts me to remind myself of Del Piero's incorrectly disallowed goal againt Liverpool last year.

I fear that I'll start to feel the same about Zlatan and Vieira's missed chances in today's games.

Damn you Zlatan, how can you call yourself the future of Juventus when you can't even tuck away chances like that??? You've got a lot of work to do if you want to take up that responsibility, a lot of work to do....

I dont even know where to begin with this tirade.....

Werder is a team that was damn LUCKY to even be in this round of the CL. I watched Werder last year, with pretty much the same team, and the exact same tactics get TROUNCED by Lyon, conceeding 10 in 2 games.

Werder remind me of Zeman's Lecce of last season- all attack, NO defence

CRAPELLO, you would think, would have come up with some sort of gameplan to counter-act the constant attacks of Werder...they play the same way in every game- there are no surprises

What surprised the holy shit out of me is that CRAPELLO came up with NOTHING !!! I saw our team under siege, beaten to every ball, and I would have sworn there was 15 Werder players out there, and not 11.

We were on the defensive all game; out- ran, out -shot, out -passed, out- possessed, OUT- SCORED !!!

I have been telling all you CRAPELLO ball-lickers that this motherfvcker does NOT have the tactical mind to win the CL, and that his only glories will come in Serie A. He doesnt know how to make the right adjustments, he doesnt play players in their proper positions (Neddy, Mutu), he plays players that have no business wearing a Juve shirt (Blasi, Zala), and his 4-4-2 tactics, along with the longball, will work on mediocre to fair teams, and maybe win the occasional game against a giant

Those tactics failed miserably today, and CRAPELLO should be SACKED !!!

The only things that went right today, and I've been saying it all damn season is that DP should start before Zlatan, AND NEDDY SHOULD BE PLAYED IN THE CENTER, BEHIND THE STRIKERS !!! He is ineffective and wasted on the left flank, and he proved again today that he is dangerous in the center of the field

If anyone here believes that we can pull a 1-0 win at the Delle Alpi in 2 weeks time, and advance, GUESS AGAIN !!! Judging from our performance today, and knowing that CRAPELLO doesnt have an answer for our shortcomings, you must expect that Bremen WILL score against us in the second leg, and we will be ELIMINATED !!!!!

Good thing Bremen isnt a top team. Juve should pull it off at home but only because theyre playing Bremen and Bremen has a fat keeper in a pink shirt (no offense to Bremen fans but the guy is laughable). If Juve had drawn Arsenal, Barca, Chelsea, or Lyon they would probably be heading how down 3 goals + in Aggregate with no chance to advance.

We will not win the Champions League with shit fvck coach in charge. Seriously, this is an absolute disgrace. HOW ON EARTH CAN A TEAM OF THIS CALIBRE PLAY LIKE FVCKING RETARDS AWAY FROM HOME IN EUROPE ALL THE TIME? I'll tell you why...because we have a shit coach who knows fvckall about playing in Europe nowadays. The straight 4-4-2 is sooo fvcking antiquated that we can't even contain players such as Baumann and Borowski and we rely on half-chances all the time to win our matches. We ALWAYS play like shit away from home in these matches against good sides in Europe with Capello in charge and this FVCKING NONSENSE that all these dumbass fans spout of "mininum input, maximum result" DOESNT WORK IN EUROPE. If we play like shit against the best teams in this land, we will fvcking lose and crash out of the tournament. THATS IT. No ifs ands or buts about it.

So we can continue on playing HALF-ASS all the time, getting lucky but still losing to WERDER BREMEN, settling for the Serie A only, or we could actually seem like we want to win and actually play like a fvcking team for a change. I just don't understand why we always play like shit away from home in Europe and I wonder if Capello will state after this match "Ohh, we have to be patient in Turin," just like he did last year after ANOTHER pathetic loss to Liverpool. If Capello says something of the sort I hope he gets gunned down in his house because I seriously cannot take this crap anymore. It's ever so apparent that if you play like shit all the time, you will play like shit in the bigger matches and eventually crash out the tournament DESERVEDLY. If we are told to be "PATIENT" in Turin we will fail just like last year with this fvckface in charge. I regret ever rejoicing when we signed this fvcking mercenary.

The bottom line is this: a side of this calibre, with almost every position filled up with internationals...with perhaps the best central defense and central midfield in the world...SHOULD NOT be outplayed time and time and TIME again by teams away from home in the Champions League. Especially to WERDER BREMEN where we could have easily lost 6-2 today. And we SHOULD be able to provide convincing performances against these bigger sides in Europe from time to time, however after today we will be lucky if we have a chance to face the best sides in this competition...especially if we are instructed to be "patient."

That's it. If we fail in Turin, just like last year, Capello should be fired.

    Forza Juve

    Another observation:
Juve looked like confused school children at times on corners and free kicks. At this level set pieces are the most important part of the game. Ask PSV's Gomes, he knows. Crapello was caught watching the Chelsea - Barca match instead of watching his own squad struggle mightily against a wounded Bremen squad (back up keeper was terrible). And why Capello did not bring Mutu on to compliment DP after finally deciding to stop giving Juve fans material for their Zlatan dribbling compilations I do not know. It sucks to see Juve a team with so much potential struggle against opponents lesser than they are.

Again, the loss would not be as bad if we actually matched Bremen on the night...but we didn't. We were pushed aside convincingly by a club called Werder Bremen.

And I couldn't care less if I am banned for the original post. Somebody needs to tell it like it is.

    ..

    There you go...

Fabio Capello insists Juventus have no reason to panic after conceding five goals in two games and explains why he uses Alex Del Piero as a substitute.

“The second goal was a lucky ricochet and unfortunately the winner was practically the last kick of the game and certainly an avoidable incident,” he noted after their 3-2 defeat at Werder Bremen.

The Bianconeri back line is under pressure at the moment, as after the 2-2 draw at Messina on Saturday, they let in another three in Germany.

“We hadn’t conceded goals from set-pieces up until recently, so I don’t think it’s a trend to be concerned about. Werder have some tall players and pushed everyone up for the final goal so the marking wasn’t able to cope.”

The Turin giants were winning 2-1 with eight minutes on the clock, but Bremen turned it all around in a thrilling encounter.

“I think we have a solid defence and there are times when your opponents score at their every opportunity, even if I must admit Gianluigi Buffon performed two great saves tonight.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Patrick Vieira wasted excellent chances to make the result safe, but Capello tried to look on the bright side of this first leg tie.

“Everyone is disappointed because we had the game in hand, but at the same time to score two goals away from home is a positive result. Werder are very strong on home turf and have scored more than anyone else in the Bundesliga. It’s true they leave space at the back, but they are very attacking and physical, so not an easy side to face.”

Juventus lose only their second Champions League match of the season, and the first was also in Germany against Bayern Munich, so they must win at the Delle Alpi in a fortnight to progress.

“I don’t know how Bremen will play in Turin, but clearly we have to take the initiative. I hope they’ll continue to take an attacking approach, as that is their nature, though we have to be more careful on set-pieces,” continued the tactician.

Alessandro Del Piero was the inspiration behind both goals when he replaced Ibrahimovic and Capello has finally revealed why he tends to use the captain in the second half.

“Del Piero and Marcelo Zalayeta are players who can immediately get into the match, while others take some time to gather the right rhythm when they come off the bench.”

Fabio Cannavaro also insisted that the Juventus defence is not going through a crisis.

“When you concede three goals it’s always tough to defend that, but if you look closely there were two set-pieces and a lucky ricochet,” said the Azzurri captain. “They did well to make the most of their added height, but the strikers didn’t really cause us many problems.”

Cannavaro’s poor clearance led to the opener for Werder Bremen and he explained what happened.

“For the first goal I was on the ground and couldn’t really do anything else in that position. It was an off-day, but we proved today we can beat them and hope to do that in Turin.”
