Not a very good match at all. I think we started out with the right mentality because we were pressuring Real's defense in the first few minutes. After that short period we started to sit back and soak in the pressure, and Real scored the odd goal off the free-kick. Real kept attacking us and they were unlucky to not have scored more; the score should have been more like 3-0 Real, not just 1-0. Again we sat back too much and let Real Madrid control the match, and that is what I said we could not let them do.
Now we do not have that crucial away goal and we will have to attack Real in Turin, probably leaving holes open for them to get their away goal. Or even worse we could just have the same mentality as tonight and let them attack us, ending up with the same result. Capello really let me down tonight on how he told the team to play, however when you have inept players in attack its hard to blame him. All of our players in attack were absolutely pathetic, and now it's obvious to see why we play such defensive football.
Zidane was absolutely brilliant tonight and in my book he still is the best player in the world. He made Zebina and Cannavaro look basically retarded out there and nobody on our side could shut him down. I wish we still had this classy player..
Buffon made some crucial saves tonight and I am sure he was kissing the woodwork after the match because Real must have hit the post three times.
Zebina really looks bad out there and does not have timing and tackling ability to be a solid right-back. Zebina presents himself much better simply because he has a player like Thuram who can make up for his mistakes.
Thuram was very good tonight and probably was our best player, even though he made some threatening mistakes. He sure does fair well though, especially since he has to make up for everybody's mistakes in defense.
Cannavaro did not look his usual self tonight, and he was the player who was supposed to be marking Helguera. Fabio was too far from Ivan to disrupt his positioning, and that mistake cost us the goal.
Zambrotta made some good runs up the left flank but looked shaky in defense.
Camoranesi made some nice moves and was probably our best player in attack, however he gives the ball away too much and squanders a lot of chances. That said, I would like to see him be given a more forward role for the next match so that he does not have to back-track and defend.
Emerson was not bad and was making some incisive passes around the pitch, especially up the field to our inept forwards.
Blasi was all over the pitch tonight and was running his ass off. I like how he gives 110% all the time but his ball skills are piss poor. At least he gives the side some bite.
Nedved did not do much and hopefully he will be back soon because without him we are friggin pathetic. Who says we don't rely on Nedved cuz we sure as hell do.
Olivera was stumbling around like a drunk when he entered the pitch for Nedved. He gave the ball away too many times and did not do much except for shooting the ball right at Casillas. Not really sure if Olivera is Juve quality anymore. Hell half our players are not even Juve-quality.
Ibrahimovic was horrid today but at least he was able to make some chances and hold the ball up for the rest of the attackers using his strength and touch. His passing skills are absolutely horrendous as he gave the ball away too many times. We need more, much more.
Del Piero was pathetic and did absolutely nothing except make a nice back heel for Emerson in the box. He gave the ball away countless times and frankly if he keeps playing like this Zalayeta might as well start.
Tacchinardi came in and all he did was give the ball away.
Right now I'm sitting here and I really do not know how we are going to score any goals because without Nedved we are pathetic. Our passes are off key and nobody knows what to do with the ball. Moreover we have players who stumble around and cannot even control the ball. Really really pathetic Juventus.
All we can hope for is that we attack them at the Delle Alpi and get two lucky goals and somehow play stellar defense. However I really do not think we can hold Real from scoring against us, so I am not feeling good about this at all.
