This is the most excited and nervous I have been for a football night in years

Last year I knew we'd only be getting so far with Matri in attack, but now... damn I'd love to take 4 or even 6 points from Madrid. Need somebody to step up and fill in for the great Del Piero more than ever tonight.

This 4-3-3 with Ogbonna and Caceres as full backs really intrigues me. And I don't know why, but I got a feeling that Marchisio will do some work tonight, although he didn't look great when he played in that position for Italy. So excited. :weee:

giovinco could be useful in the 4-3-3 instead of Marchisio , or maybe the team will line up 4-3-2-1 (with marchisio and tevez behind llorente).

4-3-3?

I never thought Conte would make such drastic changes in a such important game, can't say I'm not excited though.

Don't know why people will call it 433 with Marchisio on the wing.... if it was Giovinco or Vucinic it was understandable, but Marchisio there makes it seem more 442 to me; also because I don't expect Tevez to play too deep on the right wing or cover Madrid's wingback enough, most likely that's going to be Vidal's job.

The usual of late (except Arbeola and Casillas who are usually benched):

Casillas

Arbeola - Pepe - Varane - Marcelo
Marchisio - Llorente - Tevez
Khedira - Illaramendi - Modrid
Pogba- Pirlo -Vidal
Di Maria - Benzema - Cristiano Ronaldo
Ogbonna-Chiellini-Barzagli-Caceres

At least on paper doesn't seem to be much open spaces.

I just hope that Caceres is in good shape.

Huge responsibility tonight on Llorente.

He needs to lead the line well and hold the ball up - no east feat against centre halves as powerful as Real Madrid's - in order to allow Juve to retain the ball and not get pinned back and get stuck deep in their own half.

He also needs to drop back to maybe 15-20 yards inside Juve's half when Juve are defending because standing on the halfway line is pretty redundant as a clearance is unlikely to reach him. Juve not having anyone playing in a trequartista-type position means Llorente has to fill that space when Juve get pushed back.

Juve's defence needs to be brave enough to not drop too deep when Real have the ball.

If the defence and midfield drop too deep, then there will just be and endless stream of balls going into the Juve box and a Real goal, one way or another, will becomes almost inevitable. Dropping too deep is also going to make it easier for Real to get shots in more easily from 25-30 yards, which is something to be avoided if possible.

I would also advocate Juve giving away quite a lot of fouls in wide areas. Don't want fouls in shooting positions, but crossing postions should be fine. With four central defenders in the Juve line-up, plus Pogba and Llorente, there really is no excuse for conceding goals from a crossed set-piece.
