Another thing is, Madrid have got El Clasico this weekend, so they might not go out with full intensity for this one. Maybe something you can use to your advantage if you go out guns blazing.

Can someone who's been watching Real Madrid and has a reasonable idea of what's going on with them post what they think the Real team/formation is likely to be?
From what ive seen and with the inclusion of Varane now i think it will look something like

----------------Diego Lopez
---Arbeloa----Pepe----Varane----Marcelo
-----------Khedira-----Illarramendi
------Bale----------Isco------------Ronaldo
------------------Benzema

It will look something like this. Benzema will drop deeper and allow bale and ronaldo to go forward as cfs and isco will sometimes drop deeper

I think we can get lucky and win this match. Obviously we've had lots of success against Real in the past, which is logical because they stole the 1998 European cup from us with the biggest offside in the history of football. Since then we've beaten them consistently and I don't see why we can't do that again on Wednesday. I have faith in the team, we just need to play with confidence and belief and the win is aboslutely achievable.:agree:

Everytime I have watched Real Madrid Benzema is never the furthest forward Bale and Ronaldo when they have played are always acting more as cfs then wingers. I'm assuming they will interchange their flanks and also the first time bale played and scored he played more centrally and played more as a cf with benzema dropping deeper. Illarramendi might not play witth Modric taking his place and also Ive seen Nacho play instead of Marcelo but Idk. i would think this is probably the starting line up with the possibility of Modric playing instead of Illarramendi

A diamond formation or a Christmas tree system could allow Conte to include all four of his stellar centre-midfielders: Andre Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.

Ironically, Asamoah would be better suited to a central role, but given the competition, he is unlikely to even be considered there.

With Real Madrid coming up, Angel Di Maria's freedom on the right of Real Madrid's team will pose an even greater threat than Joaquin, who ripped the 24-year-old to pieces.

I read this and I thought it is very true if di maria plays

Imagine if we go for something like

------------------Buffon
-----Barzagli-----Bonucci-----Chiellini
Pogba-----Vidal----Pirlo----Marchisio---Asamoah
-------------Tevez---------Gio

I will probably start crying before the game starts

When did Joaquin 'rip Asamoah to pieces'?

If they are referring to Joaquin's goal, then Asamoah is blameless.

He was pushing up - as you'd expect him to do when Juve are in possession - only for Vidal to give the ball away and give Asamoah no chance to recover his position.

Like we always seem to do, we'll probably concede really early. And even if we end up playing better than Madrid, soon as our wing backs push up like when Fio went 3-2 up, Ronaldo will fuck us.

I'd really, really, prefer us to play a 4 man backline with very little aim to get forward. And if Madrid is content on playing a countering style, then I really want us to hold the ball for 90 minutes and take the point.

I think we have a chance here because this side is not especially good at pressing and, frankly, I'd think they'd be content trying to "conserve energy" and hit us with one counter with their game vs. Barca on the horizon.

But a 3 man line with wingbacks up in possession, even if it's comfortable possession, only takes one misplaced pass to release Ronaldo into his favourite area of the pitch on the left flank. I'd rather just have Caceres there at all times and pass the ball around our midfield.

If Madrid comes out and presses us, we're fucked regardless but they just don't seem to like playing that way with a rather light center of the midfield (Isco, Illaramendi, Modric, Alonso)
