I really don't think it's a player issue, this European issue really is a managerial issue. Although the players certainly don't step up enough.

The thing with Europe is we aren't an elite club, in serie a we can be arrogant and play in our own way, because were the best and our opponents are scared of us. In Europe no one is scared of us, even malnourished showed that. Teams study us and come at us with a game plan. But we go out with the same tactics and mentality against anyone home or abroad.

Did we tactically approach malmo any different than athletico? Or any different than tonight? No
It's just the same old game plan week in week out.
And that's become a 5 minute job these days.

The Olympiacos coach openly admitted that he knows exactly how we attack and defend before the match, showing little fear. You only need to watch us for 5 minutes to figure it out.

Conte should've changed things up following the Bayern disaster, but he was too content in blaming finances and so on like a sore loser for our abysmal performance instead of changing things up in the right manner. Added to that our fans were still so impressed with the 5-0 Celtic aggregate when the signs of our weaknesses were clearly there for all to see, except our fans who were blinded by the flattering Celtic scoreline.
We have been playing exactly the same in Europe since the Bayern game, and the scorelines show it. We've played clubs that are not even a quarter of our size and still lost and not even looked like scoring.

Something with Italian teams right now. Even Bayern players said they knew exactly what Roma was going to do.

I really want to know how many of our passes today actually happened between the CB's passing to Licht & Asa and them passing it right back to the CB's.

Such a waste of time.

Uncountable.

We were even doing it in the last 10 minutes because there's no reason to be urgent, being 3-0 up and all.

They definitely don't play with 5 defenders.
They played everything but a 352 if even with the game in hand they still threw on top class wingers like RIbery.

But the point in having a 352 means you have two technically gifted wingbacks (which we don't) and expect them to attack down the line and pose a threat (which ours don't).

Playing the 352 is so fucking pointless with Asamoah and Licht. They can't do shit with the ball at their feet. How many times did we see Asa collect the ball, do a stepover or two not fooling the defender and he only passes it back to Chielini? Next time we play a 352 we need to try and keep count.

If we must play with 3cb, can we at least play 3-4-1-2, or 3-4-3 so we don't rely on Asamoah and Licht.

Yeah the mental block is a major issue, however it doesn't help when even without a mental block we're still essentially using defenders in attacking roles, and central midfielders in even more advanced roles to compensate for what we do not have.

Our lack of pace, creativity etc etc (we've all heard it 1000x) is compounded by our inability to do even the simplest of tasks when we're under real pressure.
Its way too easy to play against us. Press us, counter with pacy players, score. Pack the middle of the area onfront of the keeper, and Juventus is done.
Way too simple.

How is it a mental block? Look at our approaches, in serie a we take the game to the opposition, in europe we pussy out and sit back and "slow down possession".
We take the game on opossition WAY INFERIOR to us. They let us attack and win by grinding. We do not "open" them like a can of worms or something. And they are toothless!!! Teams composed by a bunch of nobodies.

Those are the teams we press and "overwhelm"

This this and this
But You are not alone. I was not fooled by that circus.
The bayern game exposed us hardcore. Then last year parade. The signs are clear, ill not be fooled. This team has issues since long time ago.
Reflection of the league.

"3 years in a row, 102 points"

Might as well win the A-League (whose all stars were all over us for most of the game btw)

Now i am pretty sure that one if not both out of Vidal and Pogba will leave us this summer, i just hope that we can at least use that money wisely.

And we have to go for another coach, someone that isn't italian, someone who isn't afraid to lose rather than the will to win, i would say Bielsa for example.

Please, dear lord. Let Dortmund sack Klopp and let us grab him so fast our fingers burn from the friction.

Klopp at Juventus. Oh my...
